Got through quite a few of those jobs yesterday - recycling bin is full up and out for collection this morning, my bedroom, spare bedroom, craftroom and bathroom all cleaned, dusted and vacuumed, but got to see to the upper hall this morning and work my way down and then tackle that Christmas tree in the dining room. Still so cold out there, but not so frozen up, although birdbath needs ice being broken on it (when I am brave enough to venture out).
When I did the Sainsbury order I did put down no substitutions and the list of what is being delivered has arrived this morning and delivery will be between 2 - 6 - the amazing thing is that everything I wanted is being delivered and they have already taken the payment for this, which shows that is all confirmed - just shows when you put down no substitutions, it appears that they manage to find everything that you want. Okay it could be that it was all in, but have my own theory that there are times when some things are getting short and they are loaded up with other items, that they decide to try and foist on to you and of course, to get the money back you have to wait until you order again and put that reduction voucher on that order.
I forgot to mention the other day when I said that Rachel was going to pick up her glasses that she originally went to the opticians because she was getting to the end of each day and seemed to have trouble with one eye and needed to get into a room with low light and felt as those she needed to close her eyes. When optician examined her he said there was something in the eye and got in touch with the hospital unit and they said they were so busy and said he should be able to do this himself. What he managed to remove from the eye was a small shard of sharp plastic (just shows you what is blowing about in the air) and told her that at that point when it had gone in, she was losing 30% sight in that eye. Anyway, removed successfully and all is now well, but he did inform her it was time she had glasses for screen and close work.
Jean, see David was in your bad books again because of over filling the kettle and then you had to get to the trip switch which is in an awkward place - men usually don't listen, doesn't matter how many times they are told I have got my new kettle arriving today with the Sainsbury order and hope that works okay. The one I have at the moment was a cheap one from Lidls and has been okay, but now is getting limescale around the spout and top, which if you try and remove, also takes off the paint, so time for that to go. See you had a long phone call with a friend and she certainly is getting problems since that refit of the pacemaker. I know these days they use such strong antibiotics to stop rejections, but they are supposed to be checking you every 15 minutes in hospital after receiving some of that type. Hope she is over the worst of it now. Thank you for your card Jean which has arrived.
Dian it has certainly taken up a lot of time to get more space in the garden and now the house and it has seemed continual and I do know that after Christmas there are a lot more things that I will be turning out from cupboards, etc., and off to the charity shops they will go, but for now I am satisfied with the recent clearance. It certainly does make us feel better when we get some sun on a winter's day and see you were going to do some more housework yesterday. Here I needed the light on to see what I was doing and it didn't seem much time between opening the curtains and putting up blinds, that I needed to close them again - great lack of daylight over the last couple of days.
Rita, hope the bank has been finally sorted and you are now in the warm and staying indoors out of the frost and fog, although this morning it does seem that much better here.
No diet for me today as I have just cooked some of those part baked crusty rolls for my breakfast and had them with clover spread and marmalade, plus a cup of hot chocolate and now I feel ready to make my way through the list of jobs. Hope everything goes well for you ladies today.

I have had news of another scam from virgin from another friend. this time they were working outside her house, they rang and asked her to check her router was ok
and she duly did, they they said would she go and put her computer on to see if the speed up had worked. she walked up the stairs and luckily it came to her
that this was not right. had she not seen the mean outside she would have been more wary(it probably was not those men.
I have had a headache for three days otf and on and thought I would go to gT.Doddington to post some cards, David insisted on driving, so I did not
escape, he then wanted things in tescos, so I got a email from Pauline I was keeping in my bag and tore a bit off as I had no other paper, and then
somehow I lost it in store, retraced my steps, could not find it. I think I must be getting past it.
the only time I escape from David is when I am dog walking, of watching the tv in my room. not his fault, he never wants to go anywhere and has opted
to got to Carols with the Xmas gifts as he is collecting a clock that belonged to her gt.grandfather, presented by the London Police on Friday
we shall not stop and wear masks, have not seen her for nine months like lots of my other friends

Hi ladies, it's been a sunny day and I had a walk, takes me 25 minutes to Post Office and shop. There was a queue waiting to get in, they had had too many in at once. I got £17 worth food there instead of getting a delivery from Budgens. I thought of Sainsburys but last look in when I tried I couldn't get a delivery and thought of going through the whole thing of selecting items then getting to the delivery part to find none available again puts me off. Walking back it was nice to see all kids coming out of school, all with their parents of course, but so cheering to see their happy faces.
Re. Neice , bless her, she is still waiting for results of autopsy, not heart attack think it's pulmonary etc. So much delay, if they don't get going to make arrangements it will be Christmas.
I posted cards to Canada at same time, one birthday, He got that but the Xmas card has not arrived. I should not have put money in it, though the other got through.
Pauline, you must be all done now ready for Xmas and you are going to Rugby for it. I was not going to send cards this year but have already received some, but will not send to those whom I can give wishes to on Internet. Not sending any more to Canada. Thank goodness that Rachel went to opticians about her eye, and they found bit of plastic and that would only be seen with microscope - we are being told that minute bits are even in our drinking water.
Jean, that was such a worry for Lorraine and I do hope Bank can recover the money scam. I get phone calls nearly every morning, early on, which I don't answer, if it's important they can ring back later. They never do.
Dian, I think that cat is secure knowing that there is a welcome waiting for him whenever he decides to appear. Many years ago my uncle took in a stray collie dog which stayed with them for several months then disappeared. One day he was in another area and the dog was there, apparently it's owners had welcomed it back after giving it up as lost. It had two homes.
Cards from neighbour's just been put through letter box , I should write some. Can't get the Xmas feeling even though I was very pleased to receive a box of goodies from church Contact group for oldies. They are so kind and caring and keep in touch.

Pauline how terrible for Rachael to have that plastic in her eye, and so glad they got it sorted for her. just would like to know what hospitals are doing
cannot get a reply from the eye unit about retinal screening, phoned up the docs, and they did not know anything but told me they did not do it.
it is a bit much to ask really, as they had a diabetic nurse who could have told them. do not want to book an eyetest until it is done
Rita those dogs know where to get their food. glad ithas been reunited.
David and I had the usual argument about coffee, I like it when I have finished and he has it before we start.....
Yesterday although I have marked in the box stay in, yesterday was only the second time I did not have to log in..
forgot my friend who lost the sight in one eye due to the eye screening team missing it, has had the op. cancelled yet again. it is now
over a year

Good Afternoon Ladies.
Yesterday the delivery arrived from Sainsburys and it was spot on - all items correct. Got that away and then did at least get the tree up in the dining room end (not yet decorated) and think that was all I achieved out of yesterday's list and I certainly am not going to the centre today, because none of the cards got written. I somehow got involved in more telephone calls and paperwork again - bank statements and phone bills were available on the internet, so printed them off and checked that lot and thought what was the good of getting filing up-to-date if I didn't continue with it, so all of that got filed (such boring work) and at least got the recycling bin in and back in its place. Also sorted out a shopping list which should have been for today, but that is now going to get done on Friday and sorted out a bit more in the craft room. One thing I am happy about is when I go upstairs, my home is back again, all neat and tidy (well upstairs at least).
This morning went outside to feed the birds and the squirrel (who was running up and down the patio) and got that job done and looked at the hose. Well I had previously turned off the outside tap, but the hose was still laying on a corner of the lawn, so this morning it has now unfrozen, so got that back in the sideway all coiled up and out of the way and then there was the spade, fork, hoe, rake, etc., still out, so they are back in the shed, but near the door so if I do need them I can get at them easily. Also decided that the gardening boots that I have been using were letting in dampness so they have gone in the rubbish bin. After posting on here I must try and get on with the jobs that I had on the list for yesterday.
Jean, how lucky was that friend of yours that realised in time that she was getting caught with that Virgin scam, but had assumed it was something to do with the works going on outside. Makes you wonder if they check where working is being done by these companies and it is listed in areas with the councils if it involves digging up pavements and roads and then try it on with houses in that area. Don't you worry about losing that email with the info about the Rh-neg O group and the virus, because it gave me the chance to send you all of the info I have about that and the scanning machines and hope Carol can talk to you about that as she worked formerly as a nurse, etc. when you and David visit her on Friday. Do hope the headache has eased and you can sort out about the retinal eye test quickly as you need this being diabetic and yes, Rachel was very lucky that she went to the opticians and he spotted that shard of plastic - apparently it was something he was able to do, so that is why the hospital eye dept., told him to do it.
Rita I see you enjoyed that walk to the Post Office and the shopping that you got locally and on the way back seeing the happy children on the way home from school with their parents. I can hear and see the children coming and going from school from the back of my house and hear them in the playgrounds on the other side of the main road from me, but one thing I have missed is several times a week, they would have been going off to the swimming pool opposite the shopping centre and of course, that hasn't been open for them. Still so many delays for your niece with regard to the autopsy and the trouble is that in normal circumstances, arranging the funeral and sorting things and paperwork is what keeps you busy and does help in getting through such a sad loss and delays are certainly no help for your niece at the moment. With regard to the jobs I have to do, I am getting there gradually, but still need to tackle the cards. Yes I will be in Rugby for Christmas, but am missing not being able to get my lot together here during November, but I suppose it gave me the chance to get through many more jobs and concentrate first on the garden (which meant letting things get a bit out of hand indoors, but now getting sorted with that). It was certainly a wise move of Rachel's to get to the opticians and yes, we are told that these plastic shards and particles are in the water and the food we eat. Enjoy that box of goodies from the Church group - that is kind of them.
Just had a catch up conversation with Aimie as her phone has been playing up and now she has a new one. Anyway back to posting after half hour away.
Dian, wet miserable weather for you yesterday so you decided to get on with more housework. That certainly was a shock for Rachel and glad it got sorted for her and everything okay now. As you can see from above, the order arrived and all correct and glad I put down no substitutions - that definitely seemed to work. See the cat got home in the morning and asked to be fed and off for a sleep - he sounds like a real crafty one who makes the most of his owners, you and other neighbours . You pinch as many gifs as you like. That design I used today I got off of Google Christmas images along with another one and then I couldn't find it in my files and had to open them up again and there it was. I just add the words, style of fonts and glitter to them. See you did some washing this morning, but not drying yet and you were going to tackle some more housework - always something to do. Let's hope those vaccines start to work and perhaps early next year we can start getting back to normal.
Must away now ladies and I have to phone Rachel next and then must get on and decorate that tree and try writing some cards. Enjoy your afternoon and evening.

i enjoy seeing the gifs that you Pauline and Dian put on here...I got bus to town today to go to Bank to get my statements as I do not have a printer, then I got few items from Iceland and some Xmas cards. The card shop had queues outside but I went to another shop and quickly got served. The bus back was full downstairs, one young woman had a double pram with two babies and in the other side of the bus a single pram with smiley toddler.
I was glad to get home, back still bothers me, made lunch then had to go lie down but am ok now. More cards arriving, I had thought not to post so many this year, but must return such kind thoughts...although will send greetings on here and Internet when I can.
Jean, I hope Coco paws are getting better and David and you feeling better.
Dian, not much drying outside now, but like you, I think towels etc are softer. Have you done all your shopping?.
Pauline, yes it seems Christmas family celebrations are not possible now and who can sit outdoors for dinner? I will be content on my own, knowing my family are all safe in their homes... Will you get a bus to Rugby or will Rachel be able to pick you up? How many will be there?
Just had mail from niece she is having much support from friends and Vicar who is friend will arrange funeral as all cleared re sudden natural death. So I am relieved it will all be over before Christmas.

Hi Ladies. Eventually got that tree finished in the dining room, but had to be inventive about where I placed my music centre, which was in the way, but all sorted now and can get at that and got it working this morning after fitting in the aerial again, so satisfied with that. Will finish off the cards that need to be posted, hopefully today and get all of the decoration boxes back in the cupboard upstairs out of the way again (until the trees come down again on 12th night). Feeling a bit more like Christmas now the twinklies are shining away, although haven't bothered with many decorations this year (like the indoor door wreaths, etc.,) as this is just for me before and when I get back from Rugby.
Rita to answer your question (and this is a bit involved and took a lot of planning with everyone involved) - on Christmas Day I will be in the family bubble - which would normally mean 5 of us, but Beth and Ralph are elsewhere and back on Boxing Day, so that means 3 of us and then another family bubble (which we are allowed) will be joining us for Christmas dinner and that is Rachel's sister Nicky and Jaimie her husband and their three children (family bubble of 5). Then they will go home after the dinner and we will have the rest of the day being lazy, watching some t v and films, playing some games and of course some festive drinks and snacks. Boxing day Beth and Ralph will get back and the 5 of us will go over to Rachel's Mum (Julie) and stepdad Pete (Family bubble of 6, which includes Rachel's brother Adam and his wife Leanne with their 2 children) back over into Northants and will be joined with family bubble of Nicky, Jaimie and their 3 children) so that will be 3 family bubbles together which is allowed, but the children know that they have to be careful - no hugging or kissing or jumping on the adults - not the usual carefree Christmas we are used to, but it has to be that way and we will all be careful. On the Christmas Day Julie and Pete will be having his children there (3 of them in another bubble) and Adam and Leanne and their two will have spent Christmas day with Leanne's parents After that it will be just the family bubble of 3 to 5 back in Rugby. As you can guess that all took so much planning and working out, but at least we will all be seeing one another. Rachel will be picking me up on 22nd and we will go along to Aimie and Sean to see them and Hunter and Kylian, to drop off their cards and presents - all keeping at a distance and try and arrange to get-together with them in January for Stephen's birthday and all go out for a meal. Earlier in the year we had hoped that they could stay in Rugby over this Christmas for a while, but then the virus arrived and it couldn't be, so they will be spending Christmas day with Susie, Mia, Kai and Cas. Hopefully with the vaccine now being given out things will be much easier next year.
Glad you like the gifs and that one today is the other one I got off of Google images and put the words and glitter on. Quite a bit for you to do yesterday having to get on the crowded buses into town to visit the bank and buy some more cards and then back on a crowded bus again. See you had a lay down after that and your back is still troubling you at the moment. That at least is better news from your niece that she has lots of support from friends and the vicar is also a friend and now the Death Certificate can be issued as death was due to sudden natural cause, so hopefully the funeral can take place soon, but such a sad Christmas for her without her husband.
Spoke to Maria yesterday and she went for her blood test day before yesterday and hospital doctor is supposed to be phoning her today and I did say to her that she would probably be asked to go in for the vaccine soon, as Northampton General is one of the hospitals dealing with this and over the last couple of days they have been giving the vaccine to their staff and care workers first and now onto the older and vulnerable patients who are under their care. Trevor will be spending time with her over the Christmas, so she has company, but unfortunately Alex her goddaughter had her car stolen the night before last, but at least has been supplied with a car by the insurance company. There is a lot of that going on around my way and also thefts from cars and a couple of burglaries over the last 4 days. Rachel phoned this morning and said they were up earlier than usual because Max (the dog) started barking and wouldn't stop at 4 this morning. Now he is totally deaf, but of course, can feel vibrations and tremors so something had started him off and Stephen checked outside, but all was okay, but makes you wonder if someone had tried a door or gate to see if they could get in. Stephen would normally have been up at 5 to get to his warehouse, so had an earlier start than planned, but Rachel did get a couple more hours and she is in Northampton today at her local branch here with some jobs to do and might call in if she has time, but did ask if I needed any shopping, but said I was okay and would be popping out tomorrow to post cards and do some top up shopping (athough the way things are going here it could be Saturday - definitely running later than I planned, as I keep finding other jobs to do).
Jean good to read that Coco's paws are now much better and see your Tesco delivery yesterday was lacking any bread (at least I got the three loaves I ordered with the Sainsburys order - one to use straight away and two went into the freezer). Things like deaths, funerals and accidents happening in the month of December always seem to stay with you and of course, always feel that much sadder because at that time of the year people are looking forward to a family time together and then have to cope with tragedy. Have a good trip to see Carol tomorrow.
Expect you will be posting later Dian and hope all of you enjoy your Thursday. I am off to make a coffee first and then clear up those decoration boxes and finish off the last bit on the tree.

Hi Ladies. At last the tree did get finished in the dining room end and all boxes of decorations back in the upstairs cupboard out of the way. Vacuuming and dusting done downstairs, shopping list written for tomorrow and today I am now tackling the cards.
Dian, you take as many of the gifs as you want and the one today I got off of Google images and added the wording. Another miserable weather day yesterday for you, but see you got through more housework and washed your hair and set that - bet you are looking forward to that perm soon. It is another dull day here too, but that much warmer and no frost or fog, but got the rain last night and it is still damp out there.
Jean hope the trip for you and David goes okay to see Carol in Hatfield.
Rita, hope also that your day is going smoothly.
Must away and back to the card writing now and hope the afternoon and evening is a peaceful one for you all.

Hi Ladies. Well I found an image this morning that I could actually get a photo on, so you are stuck with me today .
Just finished the last cards that have got to be posted and do need to get some more stamps when I get to the centre and that I suppose I should do first and bet there will be a long queue, but saved myself some queueing because Maria and I wanted to make a donation to Cynthis Spencer Hospice in memory of Gennie and managed to do that on the internet yesterday directly from my bank to theirs (their account is at NatWest at the centre same as mine). so that will have saved me some time today
Last evening while I was writing the cards, that programme about Dame Barbara came on and I have seen that before, but enjoyed seeing it again - that lady will be sadly missed by so many people. Such a brave lady too working for as long as she could to campaign for Alzheimers UK and as they said "she shone like a beacon" for bringing this out into the open and how lovely for her too that in the end she found a partner that was strong for her too and supported her to the end.
Dian, yes I think this year has taken its toll on so many people and it is hard to get into the Christmas spirit. This year Stephen and Rachel are getting presents for Hunter and Kylian, but I am just putting money for them in the cards, so Aimie and Sean can get for them what they need, but as far as we are concerned in Rugby for us adults, we aren't bothering with presents this year to take off the pressure, because we all have enough to do and don't need to worry about rushing around the shops or the internet and wondering what to get for one another. I don't know about you ladies, but I look at what I have already and just don't need anything. That is great news about getting your hair permed yesterday and your daughter taking you there after getting shopping done at Morrisons. Bet you will get up this morning feeling over the moon with your hair so easy to get in order. Did wash and set mine last evening as I was going out today and thought it was time again to get the dust out of it from the housework.
Rita, when I get back today I will put the shopping away and write the other cards (that don't need posting). work out the finances and then put my feet up. Tomorrow just a quick run around with the duster and vacuum again and make sure everything is back in place and out of the way. Maria wil be popping in on Monday (and bringing cake!!!) and will enjoy a catch up with her at a distance. After that and until Rachel picks me up on 22nd, I will just have my prescription to pick up, deliver some cards locally and intend to take things easy - just enjoying doing a bit more work on the ornaments and a bit of creative work like that, so you see I will have slowed down. Well at least you have a temporary front tooth for Christmas after that trip to the dentists, so you can now give everyone one of your lovely smiles again.
Jean I hope the trip for you and David went well yesterday and you enjoyed seeing cousin Carol.
Now I am off to get myself ready for the world outside of my front door and hope the day goes well for all of you.

the trip to see Carol was ok and we sat in her garage to exchange presents... it was raining at the time. The journey down was terrible due to the weather, rain, fog and mist. we did not stay long because of Davids arm and the journey time and the weather. We stopped at about 30 red traffic lights, which did not help David's arm.
We got a text to book our covid jabs, and then the website said the code was invalid, I rang the surgery, who said somebody would phone, instead we got a reminder this morning, with the invalid code again. I have just posted it on their website as this is doing my head in.

Good Morning Everyone. Such a dull day with rain here and need the lights on to see what I am doing.
Yesterday I was surprised as there were no queues at Tesco's post office, so got the stamps I needed - I already had 10 of them on some of the envelopes, but needed more for others I had to post, but thought ahead for other things other than Christmas and bought 20 of them - which cost £13 and apparently the cost is going up soon. Posted the cards I had completed and did the shopping quite easily and got home before everywhere got too crowded. Sorted out the finances again - what had been spent and noting down all I had to do with regard to any switching or paying bills (until the end of the month) and wrote a few more cards that I will be putting through doors myself for friends that live near me.
Tomorrow morning early, going to the centre again to pick up my prescription and there are a couple more cards I need to get in the post (had to wait to confirm the addresses for them) and get another pair of trousers. I can say that these were needed as pyjama bottoms or lounging around in. I do have 2 pair of black jogging style trousers used for the same thing (and yes there are times when I do lounge around and will be doing plenty of that during Christmas ) and these are now getting worn out and I looked in all of the shops that might have what I wanted, but there were a lot of sporty things in material that was too thick, joggers, jeggings or leggings and I wanted something in light (but warm) material and eventually went into Poundland and found a pair that fitted most of the requirements, but were a very dark charcoal grey and not black, but that didn't matter as that will blend in with a lot of the pyjama/lounging tops I have. So tomorrow going to pick up another pair and probably these will be in a wine colour, but they do have silver grey, lilac, etc., and all for the price of £8 - can't complain about that, then the other couple of pair I think should be thrown out as they are now wearing very thin. After that quick visit to the centre I will be home in time as Maria is calling down for lunch and a natter, which will be nice, because apart from phone calls we haven't seen one another since Gennie's funeral.
Jean sounded like a bit of a bad journey to see Carol, but at least you enjoyed the time with her, even if it was in the garage in the rain to exchange presents. Do hope that son of hers is keeping his distance and not causing her any trouble. How annoying when links that are sent to you, don't work. Very frustrating that one and hope you get that sorted with the surgery because that is important about the vacinne for the corona virus.
Dian I bet you enjoyed that lunch out at the nice hotel with your daughter and family and bet there is a spring in your step now that perm has been done. Lovely when we can get up and hair is soon in order - can even get on with the housework cheerfully.
Rita not very cheerful weather today, but hope you are enjoying a relaxing weekend.
I am going to do a quick tidy around now and make sure that a few little jobs get finished and tools back in the cupboards - not too much work today and enjoy your Sunday ladies.

Paul and Lorraine came round this morning to move Davids grandfather marble clock which we collected from Carol. I can see Lorraine is still upset as we all would be
this clock was presented to Davids grandfather about 1906 by the City of London Police, when he had to retire as he had TB. I have information on that somewhere
in the family tree stuff. so of course David never met him. He also never met his other grandfather, who was head screw in Norwich prison and had to watch all
the hangings there he died in 1927 We do have a swagger stick he had.
the clock was very heavy and we could not lift it.
it is terrible today with rain plus more rain and very dull.

I have had a pleasant day. My son came this morning, nice chat and he brought scones he had just bought, then later niece Sue came. I usually make a dinner but yesterday she said she would bring a beef stew in her slow cooker, so I enjoyed that
I now have runny nose and very sore throat which has come on suddenly, so I have taken paracetomol lots hot drnks and will get off to bed and hope for the best. I have some throat pastilles to suck.

Got everything done that I needed to yesterday, plus repaired some of the garden ornaments ready for painting and had planned to go to the centre early this morning, but have decided to leave that until after Maria has gone home and will go then and post those last cards, get my prescription and buy that second pair of trousers for lounging about in. During this week I intend to take things easy and tackle one job at a time, catch up on some recorded tv and reading and look at the tv guide and get the programmes I am interested in over Christmas, programmed in for recording. So generally an easy week planned.
Dian apparently the second class stamps are only going up by 1p (first class by more), but they are expensive enough already, so good idea to buy in advance. See it was raining yesterday your way and the same here, very dull and wet and you were watching westerns in your pyjamas, but see you had to get a move on as your son phoned and was picking you up. Expect you enjoyed the outing with him.
Jean, see Paul and Lorraine called yesterday to help move the grandfather clock and naturally, Lorraine was still upset over that scam. Will take quite a while for her to get over that and do hope the bank can recover more of the money for her. That was an interesting history about the clock and David's grandfather and his other grandfather being head officer at Norwich prison and you still having his swagger stick - so items from both sides of David's family. Same as Dian, weather horrible yesterday and same here in Northampton. It was so dark I had to have the light on to see anything clearly. Much better here this morning as the sun is out and it is drying up out there.
Rita I do hope that cold doesn't fully develop and keep warm indoors with the cold cures. That was nice Sue arriving with her slow cooker and you both enjoyed a warming beef stew for lunch and also had a nice time with Peter before Sue arrived and enjoyed the chat with him and the scones he brought with him.
I am going to make my second cup of coffee and then away upstairs to get ready for the day and enjoy the time with Maria when she arrives about midday. Have a good start to the week all of you.

this morning had two phone calls and a text from the healthcentre and an appointment for the jab, all apologies of course. I am not lookingforward to this
as I have some allergies, but they said it was ok.
have had loads of injections including yellow fever, which was a doddle but this one? time will tell.
their site just would not accept Davids date of birth, which I know to be right, and I called him to put it in himself, but no he did not exist!!
lousy weather this morning, been to tescos
