hello ladies,hello I am here at last.size]
have triee to make it readable but not working/
I have been here ages trying to get in, Dian I hope you are feeling better and can enjoy your day out with your daughter. Jean it is such a worry for you seeing David in pain and can do little to help. I understand.
I have put aside a lot of my clothes for charity shop but think it will be a long time before those shops are open again.
Pauiine, I wish I could come and see your garden, perhaps rules will ease soon. I will take your tip and look up Money supermarket, as I need to check my fuel prices.
This afternoon a lady gardener is coming to give me an estimate to tidy my tiny back garden, the hedge it so tall badkey needs cutting back, i tried but cannot keep my balance, , I cannot see what I have written so please excuse if its unredable rubbish,
all the best rita

First of all I reckon you deserve a cuppa after all of that effort Rita , or something stronger!!
Ladies if you go back to page 13 you will see that I did post on here this morning (sorry it was a long one ) and you will see I put a PS at the bottom to show what trouble Rita was having, so well done Rita for all that time and perseverance and you have managed to get the fonts larger too. As you know I was just answering your email when your posting appeared and was beginning to get as frustrated as you, because I was itching to get my hands on your laptop and try and help - but, as I said to you, with the virus figures going up in Northampton and your way, just can't take that risk at the moment. I had to be careful when I booked for the meal out in August for us to meet up with Aimie, Sean and the children and make sure the pub understood that it had to be 2 tables. Also thankful that Rachel can pick me up to get to Rugby and one of them gets me home and it is only because she added me to their house "bubble" and if anyone amongst us got the virus, then the others would be notified to isolate and just hope that doesn't happen. I wish you could get here too and see the garden, but fingers crossed for the future that things might ease for all of us or we get that promised vaccine and it works.
Margaret (who you met at one of our lunches) said to me the other day that apparently only one of the charity shops is open her way and that is the Air Ambulance, but there are several that have opened up in the Kingsthorpe area of Northampton. At least Barnardos is open, so I can get things to them, but as you say, looks like quite a while before you can get rid of the clothes you have sorted out to go. Hope the lady gardener turns up and it is a reasonable quote she gives you and very wise of you not to attempt that now and risk a tumble. That is why I am so happy with those tree pruners and means I don't have to get on the step ladder any longer. I always made sure I was safe and never overreached, but much happier with both feet on the ground.
If I ever had to use a price comparison site in the past, I always did go to Comparethemarket for the first look and that is the one that is listed first by Martin Lewis. It is certainly worthwhile getting cheaper quotes and certainly was good for me this time with the Insurance and also noticing that Tescos were on there with a £70 quote cheaper than they expected me to pay!! - back down lower than it was even 3 years ago.
Anyway, thank you Rita for all the effort you put in to get back on here and I was going in the garden, but when your email arrived, the rain started, so that was handy keeping me in the dry for a while to answer you and post on here and now the rain has stopped, so I will try and get a bit more done outside and hope the rest of the afternoon and evening is an easy one for all of you.

Rite my laptop is driving me nuts. the virus scan is different Bio something and will just not let me sign in or update. shall ring the computer man when I get a moment.
Today Lorraine and Paul came up to say they are going away to Ireland next week. They should have gone in May but that got cancelled. going to see the Devils
whatever it is. had to book that as well.
David is a bit better today, shall photograph that foot tonight.
I was so hot this morning thought I must have a temp. stripped off, but it was the weather. Now I have put my socks back on and my cardigan.
Pauline your garden must be so lovely. all the work you have done there.
Dian I hope you are better today glad you knew what it was.
I see cruise and maritime has gone bust. some of their ships impounded because of the treatment of the crew we thought last time they had cut evrerything
tney could.

What a downpour that was yesterday. After commenting on here I got outside, did a bit of deadheading (and straight into the compost with that - all very handy now) and then started doing some more of the sieving and then the rain and thunder arrived within 10 minutes of me starting, so didn't get very far with that lot and came in and took Henry upstairs and did the dusting and vacuming in my bedroom. After that stayed in there for a while and caught up on some recorded t v. Came downstairs and decided I fancied a Thai green curry - nice and easy out of the freezer and into the microwave - had that meal downstairs and then upstairs again and dusted and vacuumed the hall, quickly did the craft room and the other bedroom and both of them were still fairly tidy and that leaves the bathroom to do today and will try to keep upstairs tidy (hopefully) so it is okay when I get back from Rugby. Not sure whether to take the chance to try and do a bit more sieving in the hope that the rain won't arrive again yet, before the bathroom gets tackled and will see what it is like when I have finished this post. I just took some photos of the garden, but don't quite know what has happened there, because I transferred them to the computer and now can't open them, but not going to waste time on that and looks as though I will have to take that lot again. Think I deleted them off of the camera too quickly before completing the file they are in.
Jean I see that you are still having trouble with your laptop and looks as though you will have to contact your computer man again. I had a laptop years ago, but that was besides having the desktop and got to say I still prefer the desktop. Last desktop I bought was Zoostorm and that is the only British made pc now and have been really pleased with the performance from that. Hope that Lorraine and Paul enjoy that trip to Ireland that had to be put off and expect you enjoyed seeing them yesterday when they visited. Glad to read that David was a bit better yesterday and agree with you, temperatures up and down during the day and it still felt too cold for this time of the year when I got up about 7 this morning - warmed up a bit now thankfully. I saw that about Cruise and Maritime going into administration - so that is another British company down, but I think all of the cruise operators have suffered badly with this virus and now the announcement that people returning from Spain as from midnight last night, now have to isolate again for 2 weeks and a lot of people took the chance to get out there for a holiday as things had eased, but another step back again. Reading above you can see that I did take some photos of the garden and yes it is very colourful at the moment, but having trouble opening them.
Dian sounds as though you enjoyed the trip out with your daughter yesterday and looking forward to hearing about it - yes quite a mystery what happened with the site yesterday and day before, but seems settled now.
Rita, that obviously didn't help you getting in here as there does seem to have been some gremlins in here too, besides the trouble you were having with the Ipad and laptop. It was lovely to see you posting again and hope you can get back here today without all of that trouble.
Well ladies, sun is out and not too many clouds, so think I will aim to get a few more jobs completed outside. Hope you all enjoy your Sunday.

well cannot find Ritas post at the moment. the site actually let me log in without having to fill in the details, this is twice now. would not do it on the laptop
Pauline I prefer the desktop, now getting old, had the laptop so I could take it to Norfolk and show the relatives things but they are mostly dead now./....
must be about 9 years old this year.
Sorry about your photos but no doubt you will be able to get some more. it is like when I downloaded mine to the laptop and it said it was erasing them
before, but did not do it, but this time it did do so. no reason
David is better now, taken photos of his foot, it looked terrible. shall see if he rings the docs. but knowing him he will not do it. I think it has something
to do with the water pills, which help cause it.

Pity you got the rain again Pauline so stopped your work in the garden but did not stop you working in the house,The site was down all day here so gave up,Pleased working again.
Jean do hope David not too ill with his foot .
Rita good to see you back again Hope you have had a good day
Really enjoyed my day yesterday.first went to Homebase where I got earth for potting some plants up then we went to B&M and as we were early it was empty. We then took my shopping home. After that we went to a shopping centre outside of Glasgow where we had a nice snack then shopped in Matalan then into TK Max. I did not get much but enjoyed the shopping then daughter got an invite from her friend to go and have afternoon tea.So really enjoyed that with nice scones and jam and clotted cream .enjoyed the chat with them as they have boarding house in Sky so got quite a bit of gossip about there.Left there at 7 then we just bought fish suppers on the way home and certainly enjoyed them .Daughter then went home what I found strange was my back has been really painful all week yet it was fine all day yesterday which was a bonus.I did pot up two shrubs today but have had a lazy day

Re: Hello Everyone

That gif says it all about today except for the fact that I did start this in the morning, but after a couple of phone calls received it is now afternoon. I was supposed to be going out today to the shopping centre, but that is going to have to wait until tomorrow as there is a better forecast for Tuesday. Anyway there is still plenty for me to do indoors because I never did complete the bathroom or get to start the housework downstairs, because the weather was good during yesterday afternoon and I achieved a lot more in the garden and made even more room for me to move around in, having put the planters with next years lily bulbs on lower parts of the shelving, because the pots and trays with seedlings in have now reduced, as they have grown and got them transplanted. Emptied more containers and sieved through and filled three more with the used sieved fibre, together with plant food and two more ornamental grasses transferred into those, plus one of the cut back chrysanths, as it will need more room next year. With the weather as it is today, that gives me time to continue with the housework and jobs indoors.
During Saturday morning there was a sudden strong wind that whipped everything around, but only lasted a couple of minutes and then died away, but on Saturday evening when it had started raining again, there was the blackest cloud over my house, showing fading daylight behind it and that was just after 8.30 in the evening. I was so lucky because several areas of the town got hit by a tornado and lots of damage done to roofs, garden items and allotments, etc., and below are the photos of the wrecked allotments at Moulton, which isn't that far from me and where Aimie used to live:-
and here is the link to the Youtube video showing films taken by several residents:-
Just shows how lucky I was on Saturday, because if any damage had happened again to my garden i.e fence demolished and work I had completed, destroyed, I think I would have been doing a war dance by now.
Jean I sent you an email letting you know that Rita's post was at the top of the page as you couldn't find it. The photo you took of the state of David's foot, I hope you send a copy of that to your GP if he will let you, because he really should phone for an appointment. Still didn't get the chance to take those photos again, but perhaps tomorrow it might be sunny and I can show how the garden is progressing. See you prefer a desktop and yes, it is handy with a laptop to take it away to show people photos, etc., of what is on there, but think the desktop computers are far easier to use.
Dian, that certainly was a lovely day out with your daughter on Saturday and all of the shops you were able to get to and stopping for an enjoyable snack. Nice also for her to receive that invite to her friends, so went there and enjoyed the tea and scones - nice way to finish off that trip out. I bet that was an interesting conversation about the friends' boarding house on Skye and expect there will certainly be more UK holidays being taken this year - far too much hassle with flying and isolating afterwards when you get back and it can be announced so quickly any alteration to the rules while you are away. Rachel's sister is off in a week to Spain with her family and now they know they have got to isolate when they return. Bet you enjoyed the fish suppers you got on the way home and good to read your back has eased (even after that day's activities) as it had been painful all of the week before. Everything seems to be running well on here today, after the maintenance going on yesterday and see you found the site down all day.
I spoke to Rachel yesterday about her picking me up on Thursday and then bringing me home next week possibly on the Monday, because our Council leader has warned that if things don't improve in this town, then Northampton could face lockdown by the end of this week. Fortunately Rachel is listed as a key worker, because she works in job training and education, which covers several counties, so she can still get me home if Northampton is in lockdown by then.
Well as it is awful weather I am aiming to complete the housework today and get that out of the way and perhaps sort out the list of what I need for going away Thursday and then hopefully tomorrow get to the centre (originally planned for today) and that could leave me with part of tomorrow and Wednesday to get in a bit more garden work hopefully and then pack things on Wednesday evening, ready for leaving here about 12.30-1.30 pm on Thursday.
Hope the weather is better for all of you today, but don't suppose it is different anywhere and just hope it is a good start to the week with no further problems and looking forward to seeing if you can post again without any hiccups Rita.

Pauline bet your so glad that tornado missed you.It would have been so frightening too and can just imagine if it had hit you all your good work gone plus lots of damage.Wise to postpone your day out till tomorrow. It is very wet here today That is good Rachel can pick you up and also take you home again You really will be looking forward to meeting up with all your family.Enjoy and have a great time
Jean really hope Davids,s foot feels a bit better today Yes it has been chilly here too and think it has to last till next week.Hope it all improves for you soon
Rita that was wise getting a gardener to do your back garden.Hope you got a reasonable quote from her It is so annoying when we have to rely on people to do all the things we could have at one time done ourselves but the price of getting old.Still we are here and that is great.
Well it has not stopped raining this morning and it is chilly too.Think it is on for the day. Looking forward to tomorrow as hopefully will get hair permed.......fingers crossed.....have a good day all

Thank you for the video pictures Pauline, a lucky escape for you.

went down town to get the photos of the foot done, as I could not print it. the place was packed.
the house next door is up for sale, will have to check the price....they have left the garage, with a door that does not open and covered in trees
hopefully someone is coming to give us a quote for carpets, thursday week. they will move tbe big stuff, just cannot do it anymore
David says he is riinging the doc. tomorrow

That certainly was horrible weather yesterday, so very glad I changed my mind about going out for the shopping. Anyway all upstairs is done as far as housework is concerned and I even started getting together the things I need to pack for the trip to Rugby and brought the vacuum cleaner downstairs and started there, but still got to complete all of downstairs and that will get done today. It certainly isn't warm this morning and the sun that was out at 7 when I woke up, has disappeared now and it is still so chilly, but at least it is dry and I will get ready to go out after posting on here. Have already gone through the emails and surveys and they are out of the way and resisted looking at any of the offers from Debenhams, Bon Marche, etc.
Dian, yes certainly so glad that the tornado missed me and looking forward to going to Rugby again on Thursday. Rachel messaged me yesterday and said she has booked a tea on the way there (as she said don't eat lunch). I think it is possibly one of the garden centres that we had a tea at last year and that was nice. Like you said to Rita, it is annoying when we have to pay other people to do the jobs we once did, but at least we are still here. Rain just didn't stop your way yesterday either and hope it is better today because you are off to get the hair permed and expect you are looking forward to that.
Jean that was a shame the gypsies moved on before the fence got sorted when they did your gardening once and at least they were making a good job. Hope you can get that printer sorted out today - the one I have does print well, but there are times when I want to change the ink and it won't go along to the correct position as quickly as it should do, so have to sit and wait for another lump of technology to take its time . I hope that David does get an appointment for the GP and see about the foot, because he really shouldn't let that swelling go on too long. House next to you I see is now up for sale - pity the garage covered in ivy and trees didn't get sorted while the work was going on and fingers crossed for you that you get reasonable people there and they will see to that. See it was packed in town yesterday when you went down there and I am hoping the shopping centre won't be too busy today when I get there. Would be good if you get a reasonable quote for the cost of new carpets next week, bearing in mind that they will be shifting the furniture for you.
Rita I hope the quote was reasonable from the lady gardener and you are okay this week.
Must away and get ready to go out and hope you all have a good day.

Would be good if you get a reasonable quote for the cost of new carpets next week, bearing in mind that they will be shifting the furniture for you.
Rita I hope the quote was reasonable from the lady gardener and you are okay this week.
Must away and get ready to go out and hope you all have a good day.

Dian I hope you get on at the hairdressers.and your kind neighbour in giving you a lift.
I had a phone call from the docs. this morning, saying my diabetic test was ok and would I go up and collect a form for the next one, whilst there I showed them a
photo of Davids foot and they should be ringing him this afternoon. hopefully something will get sorted. somehow he never gets to make an appointment
so I am glad I got the photos done yesterday. still working on the printer......
Pauline have a lovely time in Rugby how lovely to go out for tea. I had a phone call from Barry yesterday. very upset, as he still could not see Jill.
We had a long talk and I told him how much I missed her as well

hello ladies I cannot get sorted using the laptop again, so long since I used it and even after repair things are coming up from long ago not present. daresay time will work it out.
all this time in isolation I forget what day and date it is. today I got the bus, waited 35 minutes only to get back home to gate and the bus was coming but thankfully he stoped when he signalled. They have changed the bus times since the Virus. so i went to Iceland shop and got a good shop done and they delivered almost as soon as I got home. then after putting all away I had lunch then was so tired had to lie down and slept two hours. to night I came on line and found my daughter on messenger with news that a cheque I had sent her for her birthday in June and for which she had received the money had been withdrawn/stopped - supposedly by me at this end, and she had had to return the money plus costs. Now this is upsetting, I must go to the Bank in town tomorrow and find out what is happening. I have had trouble with my pad which went all strange and finally ipad closed it.I an worried.
JEAN that is good you had the photo to show them of Davids gout, surely something will be done to help him. Yes you will be wondering about house sale next to you, prices seem to be sky high now, hopefuly you will soon have a pleasant neighbour.
DIAN, I am glad to see you are getting out and hope your visit to hairdresser went well.
PAULINE, I see that though rain stopped gardening you have kept busy putting all in order indoors and now will be ready and looking forward to your mini break.
I am still finding this laptop set out confusing, it I cannot sort it I will need to get back to the Computer man.
cheerio ladies, I will get back to you when I get things sorted.

Rita these darn banks. hope you get it sorted. Santander is now saying that our secretary who had a query on her account and now they have confused her account
with being that of the Bowls Club. you cannot make it up.
The doc phoned yesterday and said it was the pills causing the gout, do not know why the hospital prescribed them...beyond words
hope Pauline is off today

Pauline I am sure you will be all organised for your trip tomorrow and I am sure you will have a really nice time with your family. Thank you for fixing the colour in yesterdays post.Much appreciated
Jean that was good your diabetic test was fine Great you had the photo of David,s foot to show them.Strange they gave him tablets which caused the damage. Nothing seems to get done right now.So sad about Jill and must be hard on her husband not getting to see her that is strange too
Rita that was a tiring journey you made but great you got to Iceland and got a good order done.So annoying for your daughter with that carry on with the cheque Hope you can get it fixed soon
Well so pleased got my perm .The owner had it all freshly painted and new worktops also had taken out chairs so was nice and spacious. It was just me in the shop till perm was nearly finished I then phoned my neighbour who so kindly came and picked me up I did offer money for petrol but she would not accept it so will get her something as she has been so obliging as she also gets my paper and rolls every morning. Now must be off and catch up with some more housework.Pleased to say so far it is dry.Enjoy your day ladies

Re: Hello Everyone

Got to bed so late last night and of course, up a bit later this morning, but happy with what got achieved yesterday. I started finishing off the downstairs housework (before the shopping trip) and looked at the shelving in the dining room end (and as you know altered a lot of that when I shifted the darker furniture into the lounge and put the lighter coloured items into the dining room and made more room) and wasn't satisfied with the end part of the shelving which is really meant for a corner and has a curved front, so hauled out the straight section of shelving which I had originally placed behind the bar for the photo albums (which weren't that easy to get at) and put the corner section with the curved front there instead and got the photo albums back on that - looks much better and the albums are now easier to get at - on top of that I placed the t v set (which is only a small one) and had been on the bar and then the straight lot joined the other shelving and the ornaments, etc., that had been on the curved section went onto that and everything looks so much better. Now why didn't I think of that when I originally did the alterations, but like all of us, we can still see ways of making things better after living with the alterations for a while.
I am really pleased with that now, but of course there is still a bit of the downstairs housework to finish off today as after those alterations I dashed off for the shopping trip and got that all done, but decided the lock up could wait until next week, got home put the shopping away and worked on the finances to make sure all was sorted before I go to Rugby. So having dealt with that alteration and the shopping, there was no time left for the garden or to complete the last of the housework, but I did get two lots of laundry done which is now drying (ironing of that lot can wait until I return next week).
Anyway out to the garden after this to complete the lopping of that eucalyptus and do a bit more tidying, then finish off the remainder of the downstairs housework and decide what clothes to go in the case for tomorrow and this evening get my hair washed and set - mustn't get sidelined into another job today with any further bright ideas, because all of that has got to be accomplished today and hopefully to bed at a more reasonable time.
Good job yesterday I had remembered that I needed to get some birthday cards and write the one for Aimie to post and then it suddenly struck me that it was Gennie's birthday this Saturday, so got the card in the post for her and during the shopping trip I managed to get her some greengages in Tescos (which she likes and had asked me to look out for) and when Rachel picks me up I will get her to go to Gennie's house first to drop them off and then down to Aimie's to put her card in the door - the one for her appeared to be that much bigger than for normal post and the queue at Tescos post office was far too long to join, so not being sure of the postage I will put that through the door - her birthday being on the 4th and we aren't seeing them until the 9th. Got to phone Gennie in a little while to tell her that the greengages will be there on Thursday (because she will be at dialysis on that day, but I can use the key safe).
Dian I bet you are so happy with the perm after waiting for so long and finding the shop was all nicely painted and spaces made for people, but see you were the ony one there until the perm was finished. Good it was dry weather, although your neighbour had got you to phone when you needed picking up from there and as you say, you will get her a gift because she is so helpful with other things she collects for you too and won't take even the money for the fuel. Nice neighbour to have. Hope you caught up with the housework you had planned to do (not like me ).
Rita, what a lot of trouble over that cheque for you and your daughter and see you are planning to get to the bank to get it all sorted. Worrying, because you don't know if this might have been caused through mistakes on the IPad and really has got to be sorted. I know you have still got to get to grips with the laptop, but that at least seems better to use, now it has been repaired. Not such a good day all round for you with that wait for the bus, having now realised that the time tables had been altered, but lucky the driver saw you signal as you had turned to go home. Was a good thing you got home before the Iceland order arrived - that was quick and reckon you did need a rest after coping with all of that lot.
Jean I see that your club secretary has had trouble with Santander with them muddling her own account with the one of the club and now she has got to sort out that problem. Thankfully NatWest runs smoothly for me, but I did notice yesterday when I went to the ATM that they are closing at 3 in the afternoon at the moment and not keeping to their normal opening hours. See the doctor phoned yesterday and confirmed it was the pills that the hospital had told David to take and you were right about them, so good job you took action and showed the photos of the foot at the surgery. Hope the swelling is going down now as it looks as though he was told to stop taking the pills and as you have said, why did the hospital prescribe them in the first place?? Not today that I leave for Rugby, but tomorrow and glad about that because I still have quite a bit to do before I leave here.
I must away now and phone Gennie first, then tackle that eucalytus and on with the other jobs - hope it is dry and sunny for all of you as it is like that here. Expect I will have time to quickly post and read tomorrow before I leave - gave a good day all of you.

Hi Ladies. Those lilies in the gif are one of the photos I managed to take yesterday and actually save this time. Will try and remember to put the other photos on here next week when I get home. Those lilies were the ones I bought from Tescos along with the cosmos which is also blooming well, so pleased with that purchase.
Got everything done yesterday which I had planned to do and so pleased that the eucalyptus cutting got completed and also got a bit more down from the council tree. Phoned Gennie and told her I would be putting the greengages in her fridge today while she was at dialysis and she thanked me for her card which had already arrived (one day with second class stamp), also spoke to Maria and her chemo went well yesterday and the next review for her will be on 20th August and by then the doctor should know how many more treatments she has to go through and what will continue after that, but he was very pleased with her the last time he saw her and since then she has even put on a little bit more weight.
After this I am going to water the garden, because we only got a few bits of rain here and there yesterday in the evening and then put everything in the case.
Rita, what a nuisance losing another post, but glad to read that the bank trouble has been sorted and it does sound as though it was the bank at Leigh's end and see she has changed banks and the one she is now going to use is in her village, so sounds much better for her.
Hope all of you get some good weather from now and over the weekend and no more problems at the moment for you. Will post when I get home, which might be late Monday or on Tuesday xxx

Just popped in quickly (leaving in the next 10 mins). Unfortunately the card hasn't arrive Jean, but will let Gennie know when I phone her over the weekend that you have sent one and give it to her next week when I visit. Good to know that David's foot is so much better, as you say, bad enough to live with the pain from the shoulder without that too. Will send you Gennie's address in an email, so you can use that another time.
