Hi Ladies. Decided to design a gif this morning showing all of the weather for the start of our summer and it looks as though (although grey at the moment) that it is going to be sun mixed with rain today, but possibly sun tomorrow. Going to give Gennie a ring in a little while and arrange to go and visit her (with mask and gloves) and collect that cooker control knob so I have a clearer picture of what to order. It will be good to see her again after all of these weeks.
Yesterday it was indoor jobs again for me - two lots of washing that dried indoors and ploughed on through a lot more albums - just three more to get through and then comes the sort out of trying to get everything in date order. Perhaps all of this work will make me get on with my own photos once again .
Dian see it was chilly still your way yesterday, but you were going to try and walk around the garden, despite the wind and you were going to try and tidy upstairs. I bet you will enjoy the trip out with your daughter this morning.
Hi to you also Jean and Rita and hope your day went smoothly yesterday and now I am off to get ready to catch that bus and visit Gennie. Have a good day all of you.

I know we could all do with waking up to a view like that at the moment, but in the meantime have to be content with memories of holidays like that.
Weather forecast with BBC says sunshine all day and that from Met Office says the same, but rain starting about 5 - whatever, I can live with that and looks like a sorting out day in the garden coming up. Damp about this morning and obviously been some rain during the night, but drying up now. I really do want to sort out all of those metal poles that have been hanging about from past gazebos and get them tidied, sorted and stored or got rid of and do need a dry day to do this. Loads of drilling and hammering coming from next door (but not going on too late) and just heard him start this morning - doing some scraping by the sound of it and yesterday a pickup truck called and a lot of items taken away - garden table, good glass topped indoor table, bed frames, etc., so obviously having a good clear out. To be honest with those Eastern European men there and rubbish piling up in the garden, plus windows never being opened, I reckon there is a lot of cleansing and freshening up to be done.
Yesterday I never did get to see Gennie because when I phoned her another friend was there and they dropped off the oven control knob to me on their way home, but still cannot track down the exact one, so think I will order that universal one and see how we go from there. Indoor work again and more sorting of the photos and didn't achieve much else and also with the grey miserable day and several aches and pains I was feeling a bit down. Feel much better this morning and seeing the sun again is a great help.
Jean I see that Paul called round and you saw the cut and as you say, if you had your way he would have gone to the hospital with that, but men never do listen . See you got wet on the walk with Coco and yes, it was horrible weather yesterday. Hope you get that DVD player sorted and don't have to buy a new one.
Dian, as you can see I never did get to see Gennie or get much done yesterday. Glad to read you had a lovely morning yesterday going to so many places with your daughter and no queues either. Lots of plants purchased and you managed to get some of them in, but got a sore back for doing so much. Bet you did enjoy that happy meal and I always find there is enough in them for me. Hope it is sunny today your way and you can get the rest of the plants sorted.
Rita, hope you are feeling okay and your weekend starts off well.
Going to get some breakfast now and then off to the garden - hope all of you enjoy your Saturday.

Pauline has rained during the night and dull and overcast here at the moment so no planting up today .Hope you get lucky with finding a suitable oven knob You will be kept busy with the metal poles.Good your new neighbours starting to sound normal and hopefully will be pleasant
Jean hope your sons head not giving him any trouble Maybe he could look at your DVD for you and save you a lot of bother
Rita hope all going along nicely with you with no problems
Well as very dull and a strong breeze blowing will not be working outside but will do some work inside My hair is a disaster.Bought large clasps in HB yesterday to see if I can get a better look Cat did not venture far this morning Do not think he likes the wind I was going to throttle him last night at 11.30 as could see him from back door sitting in neighbours garden ignoring me. I started rattling dreamies and he eventually sauntered[ in/b]rr

Dian I see you had a very good day out yesterday. I like MacDondalls now and again use to take the grandkids there after a trip.
today it is hot so after th dog walk had to come in and change.
Pauline as we have those Polish neighbours, who this morning, have opened up their doors so I can hear the music. it is not loud at the moment
hope your Indian neighbours are fine. we use to live next door to the Hindu priest in our bigger house, and also had nice Indians at the
top who tried to get us to stay there.
Dian Paul could not do the dvd, he is not that way minded. Turned it off and back but it will still not play the disc.

Good Morning Everyone. On this day in 1915 my Mum was born and usually we have a family get-together and if it had been normai times, then we would have been enjoying a bbq today, so seeing as that can't be the case, I have lit a candle for her and got her photo on here.
Yesterday I worked until about 7 in the garden and managed to move all of the old gazebo poles to a space where I can work on them - sorted a few, but still more to do. I did make use of the patio space cleared where I moved them from, swept that all out and got all of the shelving in the position I want them and a lot of the potted plants on them, together with some of the seedlings (managed to pot up some of them too). Got the carnations near the door as there is a lovely perfume from them wafting in. The Passion Flower Vine is coming back up again really well in a few places and have made use of one piece of old narrow trellis against the new fencing for it to climb on and going to repair another piece of the trellis today for the second lot, because I am not going to have the weight of that on the new fencing. After sorting the poles today I really want to work on the other side of the garden and get the honeysuckle all tied back. I managed to do a bit more sorting of the photos in the evening and got some washing done and then after a bath to get all of the garden dirt off of me, watched some recorded tv.
Dian we too got the rain during the night, but it was sunny for us yesterday. Shame you got a dull day and couldn't get any more planting out done. I see you bought some hair clasps in HB and hope you have managed to find a way of using them to keep your hair tidy, while it is still growing and no hairdressers open. Had a laugh about the cat and him eventually giving in because of the dreamies and sauntering in. Rachel sent me this photo of Ossie the other day, who is really making his feelings felt about being kept in and she called him thug cat - obviously doing a V sign to her with his back legs and just look at that unfriendly look:-
Jean I see you get entertainment that you don't need from your Polish neighbours and hope you get some decent ones on the other side when that property is sold. At the moment there is such a lot of activity going on next door - drilling and sawing and think they were cutting large boards in the garden yesterday, for new flooring, but nothing going on too late. Like you have said about the Indian families you used to live near, most of the Asian community keep their houses in good repair on our estate. Still no joy with your DVD and Paul couldn't get it going either, so looks as though you need a new one - more expense. I hope anything going wrong will take a rest for a while in my house, because have had to pay out enough money over the last few months.
Rita, hope to see you posting today and that your weekend is going well.
Off to make a coffee now and get into the gardening clothes for some more work. Enjoy your day ladies.

great that you had dinner out Dian...I have forgotten what that is now. Was sunny today and got the towels etc. washed and dried/
did my back in yesterday so have to be careful today, no idea what I did.
Pauline lovely photo of your Mum, she does remind me of someone but cannot say who.
Ossie looks a bit like Pauls cat, a big ginger tom. use to let mine out shortly after we moved and she always came back. knew we were moving again
with the packing cases and did not go far then. one day she dragged a pigeon home, bigger then herself. She use to get into next door through their windows
and my luck turned when my neighbour heard a bang in the kitchen and her cat was pinching the chicken breasts. we had a good laugh

Hi Ladies. That photo in the gif is a carving of a stag beetle in our local woods.
Yesterday got a few more of the poles sorted, but spent the most time on cutting back the ivy opposite patio doors into lounge, as when it gets too large it can block out light from that room. When I was up the step ladder saw the gentleman next door and we had a conversation. He confirmed that all new flooring had to be done and the house was in a terrible state - carpets with urine stains on them and I said to him how it must have smelt so bad as windows were never opened. Anyway he and his two sons are seeing to the repair of everything and it has been bought by his daughter who lives at Milton Keynes. It is going to be rented out and they have tenants - engineer and his wife - and he has put it in the hands of agents so regular inspections will be done there, so I am hoping from now on it just might be kept in reasonable order. He lives not far away and funnily enough has a snooker table installed by Stephen's team - small world.
Caught up with Stephen and Rachel yesterday and she confirmed that Ossie is now allowed out and seems to be coming and going well. Stephen said they are still worried about Tilly because she has been an indoor cat and does get herself into some scrapes - as he said would be nice if she just went in the garden, but we all know how cats wander. He was using one of his vans yesterday to go and pick up the slabs for the garden - so several trips for him and the garden should be started on in about 5 days. Possibly will arrange to go to Rugby in a couple of weeks.
I must water the garden next before the sun gets too hot as I ran out of time yesterday and I also need to do the last lot of clipping of the ivy. I started tackling the winter jasmine and honeysuckle at the end of the patio on the fence and that took a lot of time untangling all of that and want to get that trained properly against the fence and then work my way down that fence getting the honeysuckle tied back - at the moment it is looming out over a lot of the tall plants, so that will mean shifting a lot of the planters to get at it - so know what my day is going to be filled with. I know having that fence trouble and having to move a lot of things, held me up and led to a lot of sorting of items that had been stored (and should have been sorted well before now), but the garden work seems to be going on forever. The virus and lockdown has certainly given me more time to get it done and I certainly needed that time.
Jean, if I remember rightly, that photo of my Mum was taken on her 85th birthday party at my place - we did that as a surprise for her and quite a few relatives and friends were there and she did enjoy it. Do hope your back feels better today and last night I needed to take a couple of pain killers because being on the stepladder for quite a while on those narrow treads, my right hip was really giving me trouble, so got to be careful with that today. Sounds as thought the cat you had was well trained and used to moving, so packing cases gave him the hint not to wander too far from home. Sounds quite a character that cat of yours. One we had when we had the shop I saw him climbing a ladder to the 3rd floor of the building next door and going in there and he would pinch washing off of the line and when we moved here, one of our cats came home with a fresh chicken leg and Gennie saw what house he pinched that out of. Anyway, I seem to have made life difficult for the black fiend here - no hiding places left, so he hasn't bothered and birds are happy.
Dian, what a lovely time you had yesterday with lunch at your daughter's and visiting your granddaughter on the way there - mouth watering that roast beef dinner and ice cream to follow, plus the gin and tonics, but not fair having to come home and then water the garden after that lovely day. Glad you liked the photo of my Mum. Rachel made me laugh yesterday speaking about the photo of Ossie - she said the whole look on his face said "oh its going on Facebook is it, so take that" .
Hope you can post today Rita and let us know how you are doing.

I have never heard of a cat that took the washing off the line. did he hide it somewhere.
I do not have a cat after Paul got bitten and got cat scratch fever. 1 in 3 million get that and it had to be us. He had to have emergency surgery to have the lump removed from his chin. then the school wrote me that he was not there (had told them of course....)
Today on the dog walk, met a lady with her dog and she asked if I knew what happened over the green to the houses opposite, apparently they man had been doing up the stairs fell over and refused to go to hospital and four days later he died so sad
I wonder you could water the garden Dian after all those gins and tonics.......great day you had

Hi Ladies. Because I watered the garden yesterday before doing anything else out there, I had to wait until it dried up before I could start. Worked on the first 6ft section coming down from the ivy and first of all had to move all of the planters to get the step ladder in position to sort out the honeysuckle. Eventually got that lot tied back and can now see my two large tubs of alstromerias which were being covered by the honeysuckle. Worked on all of the tubs before they were put back in place, getting out any dead stuff and feeding them and at last got them all back and dug along the front of that bed getting all of the smaller plants in order. Pleased that the Chinese Lantern plant is doing well this year in its tub and feel I need to dig out the Red Hot Poker plant from where it is, because it isn't getting enough sun and not doing that well, but problem is, I haven't yet worked out where to put that. I know next year there is a rambling rose in the end bed and that must be dug up and put somewhere else, because that too, doesn't get enough light. Always something to transplant in a garden . There was certainly a load of rain late evening and through the night and everything is looking fresh and colourful and one job of watering not needed today and looks as though I should get cracking out there, because more rain forecast for this afternoon.
I ordered that universal oven control knob yesterday and that is supposed to be here by Friday, so will see if that works okay for Gennie. One annoying thing yesterday was that I was unable to get what I wanted from Argos. I had checked out that they stocked the Spear and Jackson tree pruner that I wanted, so then ordered a £25 Argos card off of one of the survey companies. When I went to order the pruner yesterday it was only to find that item was not in stock in any of their stores near me and they were also out of stock of it on line, so now got a £25 Argos card to use at some later date when their stores are fully operational and that left me hunting for the same item elsewhere. Found it for a slightly cheaper price than Argos and paid a small delivery charge and it is on the way and saves me the job of picking it up from a store. I used the money out of the PayPal account which I had received from another survey company, so no cost to me and I do have another £25 to be transferred to PayPal from another survey company, plus £8 from one of the others, so although it is not actually the living wage you earn from them, some of them are worth doing - and I do remind myself about that when one of them seems long and boring. I know that Jojo used to do a lot of them too.
Jean - yes cats can be comical creatures and that is a shame what happened to Paul with that cat bite, so you have never had a cat since then. I don't have any pets now because (in normal times) the number of times I stay in Rugby for a few days, plus any holidays and couldn't afford the number of times I would need the kennels. That was sad news about that neighbour having a fall when decorating and refusing to go to the hospital and now he has died - anything like that should be checked out, but there we go, men again. You were out early tackling the garden today and with the amount of grey clouds about now I don't think I am going to get many hours out there today. You mentioning blue plants, I read the other day that bees do love the blue ones and I know they are always around my delphiniums. Hope you get the phone call today from David's consultant and you enjoy the trip out tomorrow.
Dian see your s-i-l's cat did the same thing - steal washing from the line. Trouble is our cat never did bring home anything useful . You apparently gave the watering a miss the other evening, but all the plants were looking fine the next day and although it was looking dull yesterday you did get the washing done and hung out. Yesterday it did start off a bit dull here, but we soon got the sunshine. Don't think we are going to get many hours of that today here.
Rita I hope you are okay and hope to see you posting soon.
Finishing off my cup of coffee and then out to the garden to see what I can get done today and hope you all enjoy the day.

Hello ladies sorry I have not been in here lately, I am ok now I think, finished antibiotics for usual bladder problems.
Sunday my niece Sue came and we walked, me with two sticks , off the main road to the fields and I enjoyed it, there is a handy seat there. Its ages since I had such a long walk, usually keep nearby in case I fall. I forget which day it is , worry about my memory, forget what I am saying when in mid sentence. That happened a few times on Sunday, but I suppose it is with not speaking to anyone for days forget how . I did have online conversation with daughter as it was her birthday and I was surprised and so pleased that I actuslly managed to hear most of what she said.
I watered my plants as had waited though clouds passed over then it rained, whilst I had gone to lie down. It is good that shops are open, but I will not bother going into town, although there are things from Boots chemists that I do need, local chemist doesn't stock much . Bedford Borough has very high rate of the Virus. My son came and we had cup of tea in the garden, had not seen him for 3 weeks, but had messaged.
Dian, I see you have been out and about with your daughters, that would give you a boost and I guess soon to go out again.
Jean, I hope David's consultation went well, that is the same way the hospitals and GP are working in Canada. Are you feeling better yourself?
Pauline, you are still finding work to do in your garden and had a word with folk next door and it seems as though you will soon have some decent neighbours. That was a nice photo, of your mother, you will have many happy memories. I was nine years old when my mother died.
I am falling asleep as I write this, happens a lot these days cheerio all.

Hi Ladies.
Well yesterday I started work in the corner near the back gate, where there is some honeysuckle doing well in a container, plus a passion flower vine in another large container (that is actually flowering) and started covering the fence in that area with some of the reeding that came off a couple of sections of the fence that came down - this time hanging it with the reeding going across instead of down (giving it a Japanese affect) and saving me staining that section of fence that looked a bit tired. I started then untangling those vines after getting 3 sections done and training them through and over the reeding and onto the piece of trellis that still exists and that I secured the other day and it started looking good, but then heavy rain sent me indoors and that was the end of garden jobs that day. Looks as though the weather might just be the same today, but will carry on with the same job and see if I can get that finished. At least that is using up materials that were left from old fencing and hanging around, so two black bin bags full out of the way when I have finished.
Hopefully that oven knob will arrive in time for me to get that fitted for Gennie this week and also hope the tree pruners won't take too long to arrive, as I really do need to lop that Eucalyptus tree (before that gets out of hand again) and the lower branches from the council tree to stop those bashing into the reinforced trellis.
Here are some photos I took the day before yesterday when I finished that 6ft section, tidying back up the honeysuckle and tidying the planters below it. You can see in the first one that this section of fence really needs staining again now that I have lifted up the honeysuckle and exposed more of it. Next two showing my alstromerias blooming and can see them again now the honeysuckle is out of the way and the last one shows the "Pretty Flamingo" with one of the ornamental grasses:-
Spoke to Maria yesterday and her blood test went well and that was still at the 3 Shires Hospital and today is her chemo session and so far she had not had any phone call or message to say it was back at The General again. On Monday when she had the blood test, Isabel (her Spanish friend) met her in town and went to the hospital with her and she said that although there were more shops open in town, it wasn't very busy.
That info this morning about the treatment of covid patients on ventilators now being given a much better chance with the use of Methadone is really good news. You know when we had the shop all those years ago, we used to supply the drug clinic at St. George's Hospital with their groceries for their Drug Clinic Friday club and the treatment those patients were given to get them off of heroin was Methadone, so it has been around for years and now they have found out something new about the use of the drug.
Dian, yes busy as ever in the garden, but gradually getting through the jobs. Lucky you getting out to The Range, one of the large B & M stores and another garden centre and see you managed to get more things for the garden - so tempting and then ended up with another Happy Meal. Rachel has just been on the phone (and had to finish quickly as her boss was phoning, but will be back in a little while) and she is going to add my name to her pod, so will be going there soon and looking forward to the trips out to The Range and garden centres, to buy things for their garden (and paver laying is starting today for them), but I will try and resist buying anything for my garden . See your neighbour has told you that T J Hughes is open in your town and a Matalans at Linwood, so slowly things getting back to being a bit better.
Jean I hope you enjoyed your trip out yesterday and expect you will post later and let us know where you visited.
Rita, what a lovely long post from you and I saw that photo on Facebook about your walk with Sue your niece and here it is:-
Glad to know the antiobotics have worked for the bladder problems and don't think you have to worry about forgetting things - we all do that at our ages and true, not seeing people to talk to that often doesn't help. Good that you managed to hear a lot of the conversation with Leigh on her birthday, so that cochlear implant was well worth having done. Yes, I was lucky having my Mum around for a long time in my life and perhaps you should drop a gentle hint to Peter about him being lucky to have you still around and you would appreciate at least a weekly visit from him and not just the messages . That is just typical you having to water and then the rain arriving later when you were have a lie down. See you are still resisting going into town, although you would like to visit Boots, but agree with you, that the virus figures are still quite high for our areas.
Well I must away ladies if I am to get any garden work done today and hope you all have a good day and here is Rachel ringing again so got to answer that.

Rita so pleased to see you back posting and feeling better.Liked your photo and such nice scenery too.Just take it one step at a time and be good to yourself I am sure you will soon get to go further afield.Great you managed to hear your daughter speaking that would cheer you up no end.Listen I forget things all the time just think as we age that is natural
Jean wonder what nice place you have visited and hope you and David are fine
Stayed dry so far so will go and check on plants.Cleaned a few cupboards in kitchen and flung some items out.Still a lot more to do Must do a small ironing as well before it builds up again.Showered and washed and set hair but a waste of time as doing its own thing which is disastrous Its not long enough to tie back and too long to stay in place grrrr Look like I fell out of a lucky bag

today went to Sainsburys for the groceries, did not need much, and then we went to Stratford on Avon where we use to live. the town was almost blocked off so
could not get through there, so ended up at Anne Hathways Cottage. brought back loads of memories and to Mary Ardens house. all closed of course.
it is about 10 years since I have seen the above, and now am itching to go back when they are opened. Loved living there, use to temp for three agencies.
Lovely photo of you Rita. I think that your son should visit more often. my brother did not visit my Mum when she lived up the road, a phone call is not the same
and as for forgetten things, do not know what day it is usually.
the consultant rang 2 hours late, changed these water pills to 2 a week, at the moment it is every day. and that is it.....
I am trying to keep awake...we went out at 9am for the shopping and then straight to Stratford so we missed the rain, which is here now.
Dian I have still to get to the Range, there is one in Northampton I understand.
Pauline my plant appears ok at the moment

Hi Ladies.
Well eventually I got in the garden after getting a load of phone calls, so decided that I had better continue with the trimming and tidying of the ivy and honeysuckle, The ivy I had trimmed along its support structure at edge of patio, still needed trimming on the flower bed side and looked at that Red Hot Poker plant which wasn't doing that well because of the lack of sunlight and was in the way of the step ladder and decided that was going to be put in the lawn where there was still a bare patch where the bird bath had been originally, so dug the hole and prepared the ground for it and then dug it up and transplanted it and it is looking good there. Tidied up another couple of plants in that bed and then before I could get the step ladder up to clip the last lot of ivy, down came the rain, so that was the end of yesterday's gardening because the rain just continued and is still pouring this morning. Well the transplanted Red Hot Poker seems to appreciate it.
As I had made arrangements with Rachel to go to Rugby next Thursday that made me decide on action perm, so shampooed my hair and cut a lot off ready for perming and then went through all of the permiing bits and bobs and decided there were too many plastic bottles and got rid of them, sorted through the spare papers, cotton wool, sponge applicators, etc., (already the perming curlers were in their right groups re size), plastic shoulder capes, plastic head coverings and plastic gloves (found quite a few thicker ones that will do for wearing out when shopping) and by the time that was all done I decided it was too late to perm last evening, so after posting this I am off to do that next - at last tidy hair again and looking forward to that. I could have done it before, but with not going anywhere except for shopping and because I was doing so much gardening, decided it would be a waste of time, but want it tidy for Rugby as I will be there from the Thursday until the Monday and don't want it being a bother while I am away.
Well previewed all I have typed so far and made quite a few corrections because fingers not doing so well this morning (bad circulation due to arthritis ) and think I am going to find handling the perming curlers a bit difficult this morning.
Just heard the sad news that we have lost Dame Vera at the age of 103.
Dian, as you can see I am going to tackle that perm and bet you will be so pleased when you can get back to the hairdressers. I had to laugh at your comment about looking as though you had come out of a lucky bag . See you did some turning out of kitchen cupboards yesterday (and still need to tackle the last few of mine), plus saw to more of the plants and were planning to do the ironing. I will do that job today - good job for a rainy day - as I need some of the things in the pile to pack for Rugby.
Jean, shopping at Sainsburys first for you and then the trip to Stratford. Shame you couldn't see much of that town, but enjoyed touring around the area and seeing Anne Hathaway's cottage and Mary Arden's house. We stayed in that area quite a few times at The Blue Boar Inn at Temple Grafton. See the consultant rang and altered the amount of the pills for David. Glad to read the Canterbury Bell plant is doing so well and yes, we do have The Range in Northampton at St. James Retail Park, but not easy for me to get there - have to hoof it from town, so prefer to wait until I go to Rugby and get there with Rachel.
Rita I don't reckon there will be any walks for you today as I expect you have the rain, same as here.
Okay ladies, I am off to make a cup of coffee and then tackle the perm and hope all of you have a day free of problems.

Rita I don't reckon there will be any walks for you today as I expect you have the rain, same as here.
Okay ladies, I am off to make a cup of coffee and then tackle the perm and hope all of you have a day free of problems.

Hi just popped in whist I was checking emails - not many these days. I have just phoned ny bank to stop a cheque I sent thro the post and they never received it, so no worry about that now. I do not have a printer and used to go to the Library to print things out, but, of corse can still check on internet. So many changes over my lifetime, i can remember the wonder when Biro ball point pens came out, hurrah! No more pen and ink,, when doing sheets of accounts through carbon paper..
I have not been out, have only spoken to the Bank since Sunday, but did have a little messenger chat with daughter, and have been so tired, i think I over did it on Sunday I was so glad to be out in company..
ZOOM seems to be tne means by which folk chat on nowadays, whatever there is to chat about. Bye the way did any of you see the programme Life Stories, interview with Martin Kemp, well worth watching if there is a
Rain seems to have stopped any work on the building the bungalows next here, its taking ages. Yesterday they installed gas, in that they dug and put pipes through.
Pauline please tell Maria I so often think of her, what an anxious time she must be having , blood tests chemo etc snd also tell Gennie I think of her too.
I am not having any shopping delivered this week from Budgens I will manage with what is in fridge.
Since i started this I see that you have all posted, Dian, it us good to see you are getting out and about with your daughters and Jean that you had a nice trip ot to Stratford and that David had successful phone consult with GP. Now I am confused with this posting as came back to it when I saw you had all written whilst I laboured on here.. So excuse any jumbled writing
If the milk runs out I will have black coffee. Trouble with ordering from memory we cannit see what is in in store fresh veg etc and our local Budgens does not have room to stock much variety, however I am grateful tnat I am getting deliveries. I shopped at Sainsburys fir years but could not get delivery even though I have had them previously.
Hello to Dian and Jean I hope all is well with you two too.byeeee

Pauline have a nice time away.
I am tired after yesterday, must be old age. once we use to do 300 miles in a day and not as tired as yesterday.
Sorry to hear about Dame Vera. You could understand every word she made.
It has rained buckets today, was planning to do the garden
Dian my family went to Stratford on Avon when I was 15, remember thinking what a dump, it was raining at the time. how the weather gives us another view

Hi Ladies, more rain on and off so it is going to be indoor jobs again for me today. Spoke to Gennie last evening and cancelled out visiting her today because still waiting for those tree pruners to be delivered by Parcel Force, so think it is safe for me to go there on Sunday (as no deliveries from them on that day) and made that arrangement with her.
Yesterday got the hair permed and as it was all curly and decision made to stay in today, I haven't bothered to set it yet. Got all of the ironing done and two more loads of washing that is still drying indoors on the airer (including a lot of towels which you tend to get through with all of the stages of perming), so ironing board left up ready for some of the items in one of those washes and I also thoroughly cleaned the bathroom from top to bottom, then went through some more of the photos, sorting them and putting them in bags for now, so Stephen can look through them and decide what he wants to keep and then they can go back in albums. In the end quite a full up day. Today obviously with the rain on and off I am going to strip the bed and then dust and vacuum all of the upstairs rooms and might even manage to get some of the downstairs started on again - don't think there will be any gardening done, although having said that, we do have some sunshine at the moment, so popped outside and dead headed one of the newer chrysanths which is now in a larger pot and hope that takes off well like last year's one that is flourishing.
Dian I see that you had good weather yesterday and made the most of it by planning to pot up the last of the plants and see you were looking forward to a tea in the garden of your Daughter's friend and then off for a fish supper at your granddaughter's. The day before I see you got all of your ironing up-to-date and your son popped in for a chat, so two good days for you and hope today is going well too.
Rita always some fiddly job to do and see yours yesterday was cancelling a cheque that hadn't arrived, but we have to keep on top of these things. So many changes over our lifetimes and I can still remember using the carbon paper in the manual typewriter and also in the electric ones when they were developed. Such progress in the telecommunications field over the last few years and can't say I am that happy with all of the things to do with mobile phones. See you have been tired over the last week and as you say, that was probably down to that long walk and overdoing it on Sunday, but an enjoyable time with your niece. I didn't see the programme you mentioned about Martin Kemp, but am sure that was interesting and a lucky man getting over that brain tumour. At least the gas pipes got put in the new bungalows, but rain has stopped other things going on. The man I spoke to the other day thought they might be finished on Wednesday, but still the work is going on and more things being turned out into the garden for collection. I reckon that whole house had to be gutted. Maria and Gennie do know about your good wishes to them and often ask about you too. No deliveries for you this week and you are going to manage until next week with what you have in the cupboard. I think that after I have been to Gennie's on Sunday I must pop to the centre and get some top up shopping to last me until Rachel picks me up on Thursday to go to Rugby.
Yesterday we lost Dame Vera and now today they have just announced the death of Sir Ian Holm. There is one film of his I really love seeing and that is Singleton 's Pluck about a farmer who used an ancient law to walk his geese 100 miles to Smithfiled when he was dealing with a strike of labour and transport Really entertaining film with Penelope Wilton and Bill Owen in also.
Jean, those ballpoint pens were so much more convenient instead of using fountain pens, but I still had to sharpen pencils to do my shorthand with . There was defintely no way we could do gardening yesterday, that you had planned, but probably just as well as you were tired after your trip out earlier in the week.
I must away now ladies and get on with the list of jobs and hope you all have a good day.
