Hello Everyone - Page 7 Empty Re: Hello Everyone

Hello Everyone - Page 7 Cc8yhe11 Hi Jean, before I could post my above message Maria phoned me so was late posting it and your post arrived in the meantime.

Apparently George Floyd was diagnosed with that back in April and if this was here he would have been isolated or in hospital, but with their dreadful health system (that only seems to cater for the well off) he was still out and about and it would be punishment if those police officers got it. I hope they can get the evidence quickly with regard to Maddie, because apparently that predator is due out from prison soon and then supposed to be re-arrested to face the charge about the American lady and who knows if he would disappear again before that. Apparently a lot of people have been contacting our police and I suppose a lot of people have ben looking back through old photos and who knows, might have that camper van of his in some of them. I see they are also trying to trace the Ukranian girl who lived with him shortly before Maddie's disappearance and him having moved away from that farmhouse. She was under age at the time and it just shows how lax the Portuguese police were because they knew about his crimes before all of that. I know that Brian (my ex) worked out there for a long time with Bob, when they were updating that country's telephone system and he had a very poor opinion of the Portuguese people particularly with the lack of care of their own children. He had seen many times children being slapped until they were crying and then sent back out begging from tourists. See both you and David had scam calls yesterday and good idea you having reported that one to the bank and they added it to their list of scam calls. That is sad about Oscar and see you will keep quiet about it because you know it will upset Paul, so best to leave well alone. Had to laugh about that story of the cat and dog when you were moving.

Maria was fine when she called and was going outside to rescue her house plants which she had put outside for a while. She had spoken to the dietician and said how those drinks seemed to be suiting her and she will be receiving another prescription for them. I must re pot my indoor plants, but that will have to wait until the weather settles and now off to phone Gennie.

Enjoy the afternoon and evening all of you.

Hello Everyone - Page 7 3h4zl910  Hi Ladies.  Why do we have to be inundated with cookery programmes on a Saturday morning?  I really do get fed up with the amount of cookery programmes on the t v during the week.  That was the first moan, then here comes the next one - fed up with the wind, rain and untidy look of the garden after working so hard on it and also feeling cold indoors and have given in and I put the heating on last evening and it is still on this morning.  I am officially on strike and feeling bored - don't want to do any work and going to put my feet up, catch up with recorded t v and read my book during today.  Might do a bit more work on the photos if I feel like it.

Dian that sounded a lovely day you had yesterday when you went out with your daughter to the garden centre and then B & Q, B & M and also into Harry Corry and do hope you get the return of the good weather to get those new plants in - that is what I am hoping for too, so I can get on in the garden and I have two new plants to get into planters and really shouldn't complain about the rain because it came at the right time for me after I did that transplanting.

Rita, what a nuisance losing another post - hope you can get on here today without any hiccups.

Jean hope you can post on here today also.

Okay ladies - I am off to start the strike against work - feet up and do some reading first - hope all of you can enjoy the day somehow.

the rain has been pelting down as well.
started this reply at 11am and then my cousin called and that lasted an hour. she is not allowed out until July 23rd and then got a letter saying she
could go out. has had three letters altogether. had jackets spuds for lunch with cheese and that warmed me up a bit.

Dian bet it was nice to go into B &Q.I have to find out if Pets R Us is open to get Cocos claws ut. she likes going around there.
I am watching a house through time, David slept through it. good job I have it on my tv then

Dian see you are getting better and better. keep it up.
I am really annoyed about those protesters in London there was no need to throw bicycles at police horses. must be strong I could not pick up a bike....
my son says that this neck thing was done to a white man but nobody protested about that. David says the slogan should say All Life Matters.
here from Addenbrokes hospital 116 people were discharged into care homes with no tests done. Cannot trust any of them now. I would like
to protest about this and all the other people in care homes treated as such, and the papers say the costs have gone up by £100 a week
Pauline you deserved a lazy day
Rita trust you are ok

Hello Everyone - Page 7 Empty Re: Hello Everyone

Sun Jun 07, 2020 3:04 pm
Hello Everyone - Page 7 Kiyfcc11  Yesterday I did indeed have a lazy day, but found things to do while I was watching recorded t v.  Did some sewing - running repairs on a few garden trousers that get snagged quite a bit and a couple of old tops I use that I had torn on some thorny bits, so that lowered the sewing pile.  Today I have turned off the heating again, because the temperature seems to be up, but still grey outside with rain now and again and according to the weather forecast not much change until week after next.  Got the shopping list done this morning and I intend to go shopping tomorrow and looking forward to getting out again and wearing some decent clothes instead of the work clothes (will wear the mask on the bus) and hair needs washing and setting today.

Jean as you say, not to mind the bill and your heating went back on yesterday.  See you spoke to your cousin and she has had three letters about the virus and she isn't allowed to go out until 23rd June, so long stay indoors for her.  My garden looks totally untidy again at the moment after the wind and rain, but colourful.  Yes see the protests in London turned to violence, but there are always people intent on causing trouble at any demo and see a police horsewoman was hurt when she got thrown and horse eventually found his own way back to the stables.  That is such high figures about those patients going into care homes from Addenbrookes without tests being  done - no wonder the care homes had so much to cope with.  I suppose I did deserve a lazy day, but made the most of it with catching up on the running repairs from the sewing pile which has now gone down quite a lot.

Dian, yes I certainly did find quite a bit of sewing to do yesterday, so not quite a lazy day, but a restful one.  I see that your heating switched itself back on yesterday - not having a good start to June and we certainly had a lot of rain here over the last couple of days and hope it improves soon.  Glad to read you had a pleasant day weatherwise and although you felt tired you managed to make a start with the new plants and hope the better weather continues for you today.

Rita do hope your weekend is a relaxing one, although I expect the weather your way is dull and grey like it is here.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend ladies and I am off to get a late lunch and do a bit more housework downstairs.  Hearing some hammering and drilling going on nextdoor from the new occupants and looks as though they intend to get everything in order and hope they keep it that way - will be nice to have some decent neighbours for a change and hope they turn out to be so.

Hello, i wish that I could see what i am writing on here it is so tiny but I will not try to put it right or probably lose it altogether so if spellings are silly I am not going back to check anything.  I was using the small micro combination oven and  its so small I have ordered a new cooker which will come on Wednesday. Maybe at my age an unnecesary expense but who cares now.  I must say that I am feeling a bit "down". But tell myself that it is usual for old ladies to actually be homebound and not getting out at all and so must content myself to seeing no one.  Niece intended coming today but with rain of course can't come to sit outside.
Pauline I see you still finding something to do, i wish I could  hear enough to listen and be busy. If i have tv on I still have to watch subtitles and I cant make much out of music... Dian, it would be a nice change to be out with your daughter. I think I may try going into town one day, I would like some things from Boots chemists, but buses  dont seem to be keeping to proper times  and I dont want to wait about.  Also there will be no public toilets if buses don't turn up on time.. I hope you get nice neighbours.
Jean, it will be helpful if your Vets are open to see to Coco's claws they do grow quickly.
Yes, the riots are frightening and like everything there are always the hooligans who make things worse.

we had a phone call today upon our return from a little drive around the villages. the roads were packed with lorries and some road closed signs. this call was from the
hospital and guess what not to go there Tuesday week for Davids appointment, they are doing it by phone.....cannot see how that works but better than going up there
#cannot do blood pressure and ecg on the phone, but who knows.
this week hopefully on Wed. going shopping at Sainsbjurys or Tesco, it will be lovely to get what I want if I see it. You will have to laugh asked James to get
me some red salmon tinned, so he brought some in a pack....never say a word. Coco liked it.....
Rita are they fitting your new cooker? we want out mains unit changed but do not know if they can come in and do it.
Pauline, David sends his regards to Maria, and glad things are going well.

Mon Jun 08, 2020 5:35 pm
I had a delivery of frozen foods from Oakhurst this morning and have put  in an order for groceries to local shop Budgens who will deliver on Thursday, so I will be well supplied for a while.  I went out intending to go for a good walk but got so far and it seemed like rain so I turned back, had had enough anyway. Then as it is green bin day tomorrow i dead headed some roses and cleared some of the bedding plants, then it was time for a cuppa, i needed a sit down, when I was in garden a neighbour came to tell me that another friend who is in hospital with broken leg and had contracted the Virus was not in another ward recovering although still testing positive, but that is good news so far.
Jean, you mention  telephone consultation, I think it is the usual thing now as much too dangerous to have people queueing up to see Consultant when a good chat question and answer can often sort out oroblems and some tests can be done locally.   Yes. It seems that more cars lorries are on the roads now which means more folk getting to their work.which is good.  I  notice your day out is a Monday, do you not find that some places. That have been open all weekend Close for their day off on Monday.
Dian, i see you enjoyed your day out visiting some shops and its Whetted your appetite for more.  It will be great when we can go out to meet friends and browse round the shops then have a coffee and chat with friends.
Pauline, did you wear a mask when you were shopping today, how did you manage.?  Did you have to wait in line?
Is your charity cupboard at the Mall emptied yet. I think it will be some time before charity shops are allowed to open, so I know you still have stuff to pass on to them.
Itsbeen a dull cold windy day but no rain.

Hello Everyone - Page 7 Empty Re: Hello Everyone

Hello Everyone - Page 7 Yfxcxn12  Hi Ladies.

Shopping trip went well today and got so many bargains that trolley was full, plus a shopping bag full too, so didn't get the time to go to the lock up.  Think some of the charity shops might open week after next, so perhaps get the chance then to get rid of some items and get more cleared.  No queues anywhere and was able to shop easily at B & M first, then to the bank and after that to Tescos, Poundland and eventually over to Lidls.  Got the bus there and back and wore my mask on the bus both ways - must get used to having it on as it has got to be worn on public transport from next Monday.  Got home and put away the shopping and then caught up and cleared all of the emails.

Spoke to Gennie and as she is able to get into her kitchen more often because of the smaller wheelchair, she wants the oven of her cooker working again.  One of the carers actually broke the oven control knob and this afternoon I had a search on the internet and found that you can actually buy universal ones that fit any cooker.  Phoned her back and had to leave a message - I had forgotten the make of the cooker and there are other ones available for different brands, so waiting for her to get back to me and hopefully can order the one she needs.  Spoke to Maria later and had a natter with her and she is okay.

Rita, all you have to do before you start typing a message is look along the top line above the message box and click on the B and that gives you a thick font, then the I if you want the Italics, then go along to that sloping A with the red arrow in front of it and that will give you the size of the font and I always pick 24, after that go to the next one which is the square of colours and click on what colour you want and after that go to the A next to it and pick what type of font you want.  You just start typing your message then as you will see the cursor is already flashing in the correct place between the codes you have picked. You can always have a quick trial run and then go down to "Preview" and tap on that and you can read what you have written so far and if there are any alterations you need to make, go back to the reply box and make the alterations.  Or you can leave it all to the end of your posting and do it then and when you are satisfied with the alterations you are then ready to send the message.  I am going to copy and paste this section of my message and email it to you, so you can keep it and study it.   I just wish I was able to show you in person  because it is easy when you know how, but not possible at the moment.  See you have ordered a new cooker - will they take the other one away and install the new one?  Don't call that a waste at your age, because there is so much more you can do with a full cooker.  Expect you were feeling down on Sunday what with your niece not being able to visit and such awful weather.  Hope you have felt better today with everything that you got through - food delivery, shopping list done for next delivery, going for a short walk and then back to do some garden tidying ready for the bin collection.  That is the trouble, going further distances on the buses and know you would like to go into town and shop in Boots, but buses not running to time and of course, as you say, no toilets open.  Not only do I seem to have new neighbours next door, but also opposite my front door where the backs of the houses of the next row are, I went outside today and an Asian gentleman was staining the fence and had a conversation with him and they had just bought the house.  Better news from your neighbour that the other neighbour who has the broken leg and the virus, seems to be improving.  You can see above what I wrote about the shopping trip and wearing my mask - it all went okay.  Also I wrote above about the lock up - still waiting for the charity shops to open so I can clear most of what is left.

Dian you can see what I told Rita about the new neighbours - looks like two lots now and had a good conversation today with one of them.  Hair turned out okay after the shampoo and set, but won't last long, but honestly doesn't seem worth doing a perm at the moment as not going out and about much.  See you had a nice long phone conversation with a friend, but still managed to do some garden work after that.  That means that your weather has been a whole let better than down here, although today was dry, but so cloudy and grey.  See you are still waiting for the hospital to phone and wonder how long you will have to wait.  Isolation for you in Scotland until end of July - that is such a long time and see you might just break the rules.  So long as we are all careful and keep a distance from one another and now wear the masks I can't see it is doing much harm.  A bit of a down day for you today, but see you kept yourself busy with stripping the bed and getting that remade, doing the washing and potting up some more plants.

Jean your trip out today around the villages was a bit of a busy drive with the lorries on the road.  Then a phone call when you got home to say that David's appointment at the hospital had been cancelled and they were going to do it by phone - as you say, cannot see how that works for for ecg and blood pressure checks!!!  I bet you will enjoy that trip to do your own shopping at either Tescos or Sainsburys on Wednesday.  Had to laugh about the mistake over the salmon and Coco got really spoiled with that - lucky dog.  Maria said thank you for David's kind regards to her.  Glad the plant seems to be doing well - suppose it is down to all of that rain, but it would be nice to see some sun back again.

Going to cheat this evening and not do a proper meal - bacon sandwiches instead and off to cook the bacon now in the microwave, so they will soon be ready.  At the moment watching that programme "Sitting in Limbo" about the Windrush scandal - how despairing those people affected by it must have felt - just doesn't happen in American and while we have uncaring autocrats in our civil service (that believe they have absolute power) and snakes like Dominic Cummings who help to make the rules for all of us (but not him of course), these things will still happen and although I didn't like the violence caused by some, those demonstrations are so justified.

Enjoy your evening ladies

Hello Everyone - Page 7 Mljmpf11  So far this morning have run a couple of security checks on the computer (all okay) and caught up with the emails.  Printed off the up-to-date bank statements and going to check them against my lists that I keep, but at a quick glance all seems to be okay.  Once having done that can shred the receipts those statements cover and then better get into the garden, because it looks as though it might be a completely dry day and then more rain tomorrow.

Hope all of you have a good day ladies.

miserable and cold day today. David is a bit down probably over granddaughter. nothing is going to change what she did.
met some nice people on dog walk.
Cannot see how changing history will make things better, agree with the protest but not the violence and ignorance of some of them.
None of them have been back to see the country who sold them to slavery.
in the 1900s loads of people were treated like slaves here, no wages. tied houses or none, and the big house controlling it all.
especially the firms who gave them tokens to spend in their shops only.
been watching that outback Australia murder of the man they never found. does not add up
Dian glad you are going out to shop. watch me tomorrow

Rita before I forget again. we go out on a Monday as it use to be our free day, the other days being booked for different things for me, like keep fit, shopping with jill
bowls etc....It does not matter where we go David sits in the car because he cannot do much and reads the paper and I go round on my own, have done this for years.
I went out to the shops. wonderful, felt stupid in mask and rubber gloves, but needs must. Sainsburys was ok, we went at 9am and then to Morrisons to get some
beef dripping for chips, the children do not seem to know what it is. I wonder if you can have it on bread.......use to love that
Dian have nagged David about a walker but am talking to myself of course. I have to hobble because of my foot, but it was lovely out....hope the back
is better today.
Pauline you got a lot yesterday.
Today I rang Pets r Us, because when I went into the shop they girl said you have to ring up to get an appointment to which I replied well I am here now
but no, could not do that, had to ring up and then told no claw cutting at the moment by a robot.

Hello Everyone - Page 7 Vlzabn10
First of all Rita - here is a copy of another email I have sent to you today:-

"Hi Rita, what I said to you was to look at the top of the message box that you are going to type in - that is where the codes are.  Once you tap on "reply to message" that box appears for you to type in and that is the one I am talking about.
               Pauline xxx"

It actually says "reply to topic" and not message, but think you know that already and that is the one you obviously use to reply or get a message in here.  Hope you can get it sorted.

Yesterday was sunny and dry all day so made the most of it and got cracking in the garden because I saw that more rain was threatened for today (and yes it has rained again although drying up now).  Dug over two beds and tied back and tidied all the way over them and made room for the first lot of lettuce seeds to go in, so got them in - another lot to find room for now.  Got another lot of planters off of the patio and fed and tidied them where necessary and have placed the two final ones in the end bed and glad to say that I haven't seen the cat for the last seven days, so looks as though I have been able to fill up all of the hiding places and birds seem happier for that and using the bird feeding area safely.  What I am aiming to do is completely clear the patio, re site the shelving and finally sort out all of the old gazebo poles I have hanging around - a lot of them were bundled together and covered with plastic bags top and bottom, but originally in the corner near the old fencing, so had to be removed and have been laying flat along the patio since the fencing was sorted and hopefully now getting towards being able to get them all sorted and decide what to keep and what to get rid of and where to store them out of the way.  Glad to say that the rose I transplanted to the side bed has taken off well and now has buds on it.  One thing that had been puzzling me was that I thought I had saved three fuschias over the winter and got them cut back and put two into one large planter and the other one in a planter with some begonias.  Well the one with the begonias is growing well and got buds on it and the other one where I thought I had put two in is flowering well, but the one next to it puzzled me.  At the start it seemed to develop leaves like a fuchsia, then got me puzzled as it kept growing with a load of good foliage, but started to look very different from a fuchsia - puzzle over with because I realised that a penstemon I had it one bed and didn't do so well, I moved to another bed two years ago and still it wasn't happy, so dug it up and put it in a pot for overwintering - so now know it is the penstemon doing very well and now has buds on.  I did manage to get the statements and bills sorted and did the shredding and also got rid of a few more of the photos.  Recycling bin is getting full and did forget that it was collection of them yesterday, but can survive for a further couple of weeks until the next one and then it will be completely full.

I hadn't done any washing up since meal the night before last and because of all of the garden work yesterday I continued to ignore it and kept it all in the bowl ready to tackle - well had to do that this morning and all washed and dried and put away and emails dealt with, so now catching up with you ladies.

Jean it turned into a sunny dry day here and temperatures were up, so think it might have improved for you too yesterday and see you enjoyed walking Coco.  Sorry to read that David is a bit down with regard to that attitude from your granddaughter, but these things happen and perhaps she might just realise how hurtful her attitude is.   With regard to your remarks about the protests, I often used to say that to some of our customers in the shop, that perhaps it would do them good to read some of Charles Dickens books and also research the history of the working classes in this country and then they would see that our past generations (until about my grandparents time) were no better off than the slaves in America.  It is only through helping one another peacefully and without violence that things might improve.  Well done with the shopping trip to different shops and never mind about feeling stupid in the mask and with the rubber gloves, but at least you got it done and expect you enjoyed getting the things you wanted for yourself.  Not that I roast many potatoes and only when the family are here, but I always buy beef dripping for cooking mine with and they always go down well with the visitors.  I see that Coco has still got to wait to get her claws trimmed as Pets R Us still not doing that service yet.

Dian, It does make a difference to get some nice neighbours and with my front door facing the backs of other houses and being at an end of terrace I haven't had much chance of that, particularly with the odd lots I have had next door to me, but hoping the new ones at the side will be okay.  Yes, it is good when we manage to get some bargains when we are out shopping and who would have thought a few months back that a normal grocery shopping trip would have given us so much pleasure and looked on like a days outing Very Happy.  See it was a chilly day your way yesterday and your back was giving you trouble and you had to lie down for a while, but then went for a short walk with the tri wheeler around the block. so you must have enjoyed the visit from your daughter and had a chat and a cuppa with her before she left to pick up your granddaughter from work.

I am wondering if it is going to stay dry, but according to weather forecast we have more showers promised for today and tomorrow, so not sure what I will be able to get on with today, but going to try and get in contact with Gennie again and sort out that oven control knob for her and see what I can order for her on the internet.  Hope you all have a good day.

Hello i think I am here ok.  We shalll see. Its been a mixed day. Cooker delivered and its not luxury but  looks ok . I only tried frozen chips today and of course thro time will find out how the temperature  works as I think  some vary a little higher or lower than what is programmed.
Then this afternoon spent ages trying to get thro to  virgin for a new remote control thingy it takes a long time repeated robot  press this press that etc, i gave uo then tried sgsin. Finally i tried through text relay and after half an hour Holding, got thro to kind operator who finally put me onto right dept and they will send me new remote programmer thingy. Hurrah!
Pauline i pressed all the tyoe sizes colour etc on the top of this but  what should I have done after each time I pressed  for Say Suze, cos nothing has happened.
Jean i  see you had a good shopping trip. Likewise Pauline getting bargains.  Dian, how do you like your three wheel walker, I find it makes my hand ache a lot (arthritis)  but it does steady me for walking.
Its time I was in bed now.  Byeee

this morning it is dull and grey. with rain. son is coming over with some booze later and two items I forgot yesterday, and now he tells me that t he garage door
fell on his head, knocked him over and there was blood everywhere. so said you should have called me(Lorraine is at work) I think he needs an Xray as the
blood is clotting on his head and he cannot have a shower.....he said you could not have come anyway, and I said this was an emergency and I would be coming
over to test my eyes.....
and yesterday granddaughter phoned, as if nothing had happened, she wanted to borrow something and Oklent collected it, good job I did not go to the
door. He said in a contrite voice, you know where we are should you need anything. David has perked up now for the moment I shall stay quiet
Rita did they install the cooker for you????????
Dian hope you are feeling better today, the grey skies do not help either as we have been spoilt with the sunshine. I would send you some back
but there is non here either

Hello Everyone - Page 7 T_bear10Well another day of rain and nothing achieved in the garden yesterday and nothing going to be done today out there, so on with the jobs indoors.  Yesterday went through a lot more of the photo albums and now have piles of photos in some sort of order - where they were taken, who is in them, holidays and days out, etc., and got two more small albums to get through plus 4 large old ones, so getting there and will carry on with them today.  Have managed to shred a lot of the photos with people in them that mean nothing to me, so no good hanging onto them

Spoke to Gennie yesterday about that oven control knob, but think I will have to go to see her and either bring back the old knob or take a photo of it and try and get the model of the cooker.  I know it is a Creda gas oven, but there are so many of them on the internet - knobs for different models and if I can't track down the correct one for her model, then might have to order one of those universal ones.  Will get up there on the bus, wearing my mask and keep it on in the house and wear the gloves and can't do that today because she is at dialysis, so will try tomorrow.

I was awake at 3 this morning so came downstairs and made a drink and then started updating the computer - quite a lot of Windows updates to do, including a new version of Windows 10.  Went back to bed and when I got up about 8, all completed and I have noticed that I now have a spelling check when I am typing - words underlined with a wavy red line where I have missed a letter or put an extra one in, so that is an improvement and can see them and deal with them quickly.

Dian yes it is hard work digging, but wasn't too bad because of the rain we have had. See it was a down day for you yesterday and no wonder with the amount of time we are spending alone and there is nothing cheerful on the news and I noticed also that Emmerdale has caught up with the coronavirus months after we have been going through it - and do we really need to see that?  I am glad that Corrie apparently have started filming again, but are going to carry on with the normal story lines, which is good, because we really don't need to see what we are all going through.  See you had a lie down, but then had a shower and washed and set your hair, but that must be getting you down also because you can't get to the hairdressers.  Same here, wish the sun would return, but at least the rain saves us the job of watering.

Rita see you tried to follow those instructions and after you have put in all of those codes there is nothing more to do, but start typing your post.  See it didn't work out for you, but not to worry, you might be able to get it to work for you and I thought it might be helpful that you could tap on preview and see all you had written in larger print before you posted it and you could also go back to the message you were typing and make any alterations before sending it.   Nuisance for you that the type is so small when you are typing it, but definitely not a problem for me to make it larger and get rid of some of the mistakes once you have posted it, but of course, not helpful for you.  See you have got the new cooker installed and have started using it.  What a palaver trying to get in touch with Virgin, but well done with the perseverance and finally you got a human being who seems to have sorted it out for you and they are supposed to be sending you a new remote control and hope that arrives soon.

Jean, well looks as though granddaughter has realised her wrong attitude, but see the phone call made by her was for them to borrow something (like you said) and see you are pleased that David went to the door when Oklent called and at least he did say "you know where we are if you need anything" and at least David seems content with that, so wise of you to make no comment, but know how you feel.  That was bad news about Paul having a fight with the garage door and I do hope he is sensible about that and gets himself to the hospital for an x-ray.  Yes, very depressing weather at the moment and want that sunshine back again.

I got this photo from Rachel yesterday saying "What do you think of your pretty room?" Looks very restful and will look forward to when I can go there and stay for a few days.

Hope all of you have a good day despite the miserable weather.
