Hi Dian, I just posted before you on previous page and said I hoped to read about your day out yesterday and see you spotted that.  See you got plenty of shopping done out with your daughter and visited several shops (although lots of them closed)  Nice to have a snack and chat back at your daughter's house after that and catch up with your granddaughter who is training to be a nurse in mental health and expect that branch of the profession will be badly needed after what people have been going through - best wishes to her for her 21st today.  See it is a very cold one for you today and thanks for your good wishes re my aches and pains - protesting joints against the winter weather and thought that was the best thing to do yesterday, just rest - after all I wasn't dashing off anywhere Wink  Rolling Eyes

Just a reminder ladies. I have noticed that we are now on page 40 and when we reached that the first time a whole new section started, so I suppose we can expect the same when we have completed this page 40.

Third try here.  Dian, it's good that you got out and enjoyed your day.

Jean, so sorry to read about Carol.  Are you and David coping ok with lockdown.?  I think we are all finding it hard not seeing anyone. I hope you got your tv etc fixed.

Pauline, it's nice that Rachel called in and had tea and chat with you.  I see this wet weather is worsening your aches and pains, but one thing good about lockdown is that you do not have any commitment to go out in the bad weather.

For myself I am now used to staying In and not seeing anyone, I did speak on phone to Muriel but she and hubby are the same, not well and only going out to shop. I am still quite poorly, don't want to go into it on here, but sufficient to say antibios not working. Guess at my age body just gets worn out so maybe cannot expect all to go on as before.  We shall see..
Best wishes,
Jeanmay

Hello Everyone - Page 40 Empty Re: Hello Everyone

Sun Jan 31, 2021 1:30 pm
Hello Everyone - Page 40 Pykeqw10  Hi Ladies.  Over the last few days I have worked out when the knee area plays up more and that is after I have been sitting for a while - it is okay when I am moving around or laying down, so have cut down on the sitting and trying to not stay at the computer too long.

Yesterday I was doing a lot of standing and moving around and managed to sort out the wall at the dining room end where the cupboards are with the matching shelving on top of them and got the shelving pushed down to the edge of the cupboard near the door into the lounge and that left enough room to get the music centre fully onto the space left at the other end and the two speakers on the floor near the part wall with the flower displays on top of them (doing that has left one stool not now needed and out of the way).  Satisfied with that work, but there will be quite a few of the items on those shelves that I will get to the charity shops when they open again, but found room for the time being while I still have them.  Also moved the plants from the patio doors and tidied and watered them and moved the large one into the lounge, where it looks okay, as I really would like to leave patio door area in the dining room completely free.  Next job is to try and sort out the bar area and see if that would look a bit better shifted slightly, but going to think about that while I have a cup of coffee after the late breakfast I had this morning (two poached eggs on toast).  Here is a photo of the completed area taken from both ends:-

Hello Everyone - Page 40 P1130438 Hello Everyone - Page 40 P1130439

All of the dining room and kitchen needs redecorating, but I have had a word with Greg and he is getting one of the kitchen fitters he works with, to phone me and arrange a visit and give me some idea of where to start with it all.  If I do decide on a new kitchen, there is a load of items that I will need to get rid of - years of different size saucepans and cookware (all still in good condition, but I don't need that many now) and really do need those charity shops to open once again.

Rita, same with me, spending a lot of time by myself - I am only seeing Rachel or Stephen here and there, not because they don't ask me to go up there, but I still have a lot of work to keep me busy here and I know they are so busy too.  After I have the vaccine on Wednesday and then after the second one (which I believe they are now doing with the Astrazenica one), I will feel better about spending more time with them - I have had to be careful that I am free of the virus too when I go to the family bubble, because of Ralph and him being diabetic and I have had to steer clear of Maria - once I know that second jab is working I will be able to see her more and help out with some of her housework.  I know she is fretting about the dust collecting and what she cannot do at the moment, but told her not to worry about it all, because really nobody can tackle that for her at the moment - just not safe for her to have people in and out of the house.  I am so sorry to read that the new medication didn't work for you and you are still so poorly - as you say, I suppose we have to expect a few things going wrong as we get older and learn to put up with them or find a way of not agitating them - like me finding out what is agitating the knee problem more and trying to avoid that.  Glad that you can keep in touch with Muriel by phone and see her and her husband aren't that well and avoiding going out except for shopping.  One thing we can look forward too is tomorrow we are into February and four weeks after that we get to March and hopefully more colour in the gardens and fingers crossed that the weather improves and we can get out there.

Talking about gardens, it was mentioned on the Alan Titchmarsh show this morning about a person who had started suffering from arthritis and a nurse told her that one of the best things she could do was get out and work in a garden for at least half hour every day - well that woman now has a fantastic garden and I certainly agree with that advice, that movement out in the garden does help to stop arthritis getting increasingly worse and got to say with me that it helps with any diet and the weight loss speeds up - roll on the Spring.

Jean, see you would have liked a day out like Dian managed to get on Friday to do shopping.  I never do mind staying indoors, but I know you love to get out of the house. As you say, see what leaving off that pill does for you and bet you are thankful that the Virgin man arrived and David can now record all of the football he wants and that might just keep him busy and out of your way for a while.  Looks like the forecast snow was cancelled for Northants, so you should be able to make that appointment for the eyes.  Expect today you will be able to take Coco for her walk, weather being quite good here this morning.  Also hope that you can get through to Carol and see how she is.

Dian that is a pretty Sunday gif you put on there. See you have enjoyed a lazy morning, but now thinking of getting on with some work around the house - just what I am going to do now after my lazy morning.

Have a good Sunday all of you.

I see from the newspaper on here that we should have snow between 3 and 5pm today
Carol is home from the hospital only there three days, but seems to be improvng. Carol is rarely ill
Pauline would love a day out anywhere...not too bad stuck in here with David, the virgin man finally arrived. so each afternoon I retired to the bedroom
and watch my tv recordings. David seems a bit better today, but my foot is playing up especially on the dog walk.
have not made eye appointment as yet, as cannot get out if it snows.

Hello Everyone - Page 40 Empty Re: Hello Everyone

Hello Everyone - Page 40 Xkjaoa10 Well in this area snow was forecast then it was cancelled and then forecast once again, but all we got was fine sleety rain and it is still damp and gloomy this morning, so carrying on with work indoors.

After finishing all of that one side of the dining room I have now emptied the bar and got the contents of that in the lounge and along by the cupboards in the dining room and now scratching my head what to do about it all and just hope I come up with some inspiration today.  Stephen and Rachel got a bit further forward with alterations yesterday and now have a normal door from the garden into the garage - they have the freezer in there, but also have some idea of creating their own home gym.

Just spoken to Maria and she is off to see the hospital doctor and will ask him if he advises her getting the vaccine, as she too has been offered this at our local surgery and has promised to phone them and let them know, but I expect the hospital doctor will advise her to have this  She still has very swollen legs with this treatment, which slows her down doing anything and she has got a key worker to come in and do some of the housework for her, which is good, because I know, not being able to do it herself and seeing the dusty state of the place, is depressing her.

Jean good to know that Carol is home and improving and see you were going to shut yourself away from the sport yesterday and watch the programmes you wanted.  See David is feeling that much better, but your foot is playing up when you take Coco out. With all of the mixed up forecast for this area with regard to snow it certainly is difficult for you to decide what to do about booking the eye appointment.

Hope both Dian and Rita you had a good weekend.

I am now off to make a coffee and an early lunch and try and sort out what to do about this bar.  Hope all of you have a good start to the week.

Hello Everyone - Page 40 Empty Re: Hello Everyone

Tue Feb 02, 2021 11:28 am
Hello Everyone - Page 40 Qkbyo210  Talk about living in hope - I am still putting on some Spring style gifs and at least the sun is out again (from time to time) this morning after the rain again yesterday.

It is such a good thing that I live alone and not able to have the family here at the moment, because the jobs I am doing are keeping quite a big area in disarray.  I started tackling the bar yesterday and working out how to get the front decoration off of it (they are fancy shaped teak strips) and 6 of them I got unscrewed okay, but when it came to the seventh one, there was one screw with a damaged head and that took forever working on it, including lifting the thing off of the floor (where I had it laying) and back down again a couple of time (and it isn't a light piece of furniture either) and with the use of a screwdriver, specialist tool for split head screws and a rubberband on the head of the screwdriver for added grip, I managed to get it off.  Now I have got to make a decision on what to front it with to hide the black leather type finish and then get the teak fancy struts back on again to hold it all in place.  I know that job is probably going to take up all of today with breaks in between and possibly go on tomorrow, but it is one of those jobs I have had on the list to do for a long time and at least I am now tackling it - best time too, when we can't have visitors.

Jean with regard to Joan's group it got to the stage where there was only myself, you, Dian, Jojo and Pat who posted regularly from this group and of course, Barbara (who I had known as Yorkie previously on another group) and Craig.  Towards the end other members had stopped posting for quite a while.  When we lost those groups I was in touch with Barbara (and still am on messenger on Facebook) and did offer for her to join us when I got this site finally set up, but she was happy to stay with Craig's group, which I understood completely.  I don't know about Dian or Rita, but I haven't got the time to join any further groups and I think we did find that when we posted on Joan's, we were just repeating what we had already posted on our group.   Seeing as I can't help out suggesting any further members I would still be happy for Barbara to join us on here if she wants to,  because we have now become such a small group and perhaps you can suggest that to her.  Sorry to read that Craig is now ill and I would be happy for him to join us on here, when he (hopefully) improves in health.  I gave your good wishes to Maria yesterday when I spoke to her - brief phone call because she was waiting for Trevor to pick her up to take her for a further appointment and he arrived while we were talking. If the prisons in Canada are anything like they are here, with prisoners having to go through 23 hour lockdowns, it will be a relief for the prison officers to get the prisoners back to normal activities when they receive the full doses of the vaccine, because the stress and tension in the prisons at the moment, must be very hard to deal with.

Dian, at least these bouts of lockdown have made me get on with jobs that had been planned for a long time, but I am definitely a lot slower these days and make sure I work carefully when tackling anything.  It helps if we can keep busy and avoid listening to all of the depressing news and see you stripped the bedding yesterday and got a bit of sunshine and do hope you managed to get that lot dry - now for the ironing  Wink  Rolling Eyes.

Rita I do hope that things have improved a bit for you with regard to the health problems.

I must away now ladies and get on with tackling that bar and hope all of you have a good day.

Hello , I hope you are all keeping cheerful. I did get some fresh air today, walked with my two sticks a little way down to end of road, actually spoke to someone, as Mary had gone out to fetch in her dustbin and her front door had shut so she was locked out, neighbour also out fetchin in bin loaned her money to get taxi to her son's.   Then he had brought her back and got into house.  So easily done, door blew shut.  Otherwise I would not have spoken to anyone, same as lots of folk living alone these days.     So I am thankful to be feeling much better although still having some problems, which I hope will clear in time.

Jean, that was nice for you to have phone chat with Canada friend, I am glad that the native First Nation people are being given the Covid Jab, I chat to my daughter through Messenger, usually typing as I still find hearing difficult.

Dian, I hope you manage to get out for a bit, and hope weather is not too bad for you.

Pauline, is your bar sorted now? Did you stop for some refreshment from the Bar? Maria is so brave, I am glad someone will call in to see her and help her get shipshape.
Neighbour here has home helps three times day.

Sorry I can't think if anything to say as not done anything other than keep my home clean and nice. Yesterday dusted with long brush all top of wardrobes and down betwen back and  wall.  And up into corners of bedroom, those tiny spiders that one can hardly  see, they have long legs and tiny bodies.  I wash my underwear every morning and it dries near radiators in bathroom.   It will be great when all towels and sheets dry outside

Rita it is terrible when the doors shut and you are locked out. To that end I have purchased a key safe, but David cannot put it up because of his arm. I would have a go myself but no, he has to do it.

it is dark and yuck yet again, I am off to the opticians later. my friend who lost her sight in one eye is still awaiting the operation to repair it, but after over a year I cannot see that happening, twice cancelled.

Pauline see you are having a grand clear out, Mine keeps adding rubbish somehow, and the more I chuck out, the others seem to grow
