Hello Everyone - Page 39 Xozp6t10  Good Morning Ladies.

Yesterday I got everything I needed on the shopping trip, except again for the coffee whitener, which seems to be short everywhere.  Think I have got nearly all I needed for a buffet meal in my freezer, when we have the next family get-together.  Got the other pack of 2 cushion pads and can say that all cushions have now been dealt with and last evening also caught up with more running repairs - bits and pieces of sewing that weren't actually urgent, but had been put aside for attention - well that lot is going down quckly.  Washing done early again this morning and I really need to get on with the ironing soon.  Today will carry on with the sort out and it is lovely and sunny outside, which makes us all feel better and the frost wasn't so thick this morning.

Jean I know that is coming nearer to the time when you lost David last year and that doesn't help with how you feel and also you have just gone through the first Christmas without him.  I think with regard to counselling and metal health matters, there just seem to be cut backs everwhere and was listening this morning to cases where there are so many families needing help for a loved one and it just isn't there, so they are coping as best they can.  All I can say to you is do try and get rid of negative thoughts and stay more positive and keep up with the club and church activities.  Have you thought about volunteering your time with one of the charity shops or something like that?  Suggesting that because I know you have never liked staying in and always like to get out.

Dian, that Christmas fairy/angel I was talking about, I bought for my Mum's tree, so I inherited her and like to keep her in good order for my small tree in the lounge and here is a photo of her and you can see the gold gauze stole that needed repair, so that has been done and she is looking good once again:-

Hello Everyone - Page 39 Worces10

Yes it was good weather yeterday and I enjoyed the shopping trip.  Glad to hear that Duke is eating well and that is a good sign.  Nice weather for you yesterday and see you were busy with cleaning and another clear out and keeping busy.

Barbara, Although we had that thick frost in the morning it was lovely to see the sun shining outside and it is the same today.  Both you and David got on with your usual things yesterday, which also included watching some t v.  I do hope that carefully worded email gets a result from your GP.  I am planning to go into my surgery early on Monday and discuss the situation with them about the tablets that need a review and see if I can get the doctor to phone me, before I go and collect the prescription for what I could order and then off to the club.  That sounds like a nasty situation in Addiscombe for the public being harrassed for money and what you said about the police sitting in their car and letting it continue, sounds about typical of our current police forces around the country - the public are fast losing their faith in the police in most areas.  Good on you for getting in touch with your MP about that and hope you get a sensible reply from him

Must away now Ladies and get on with the list of jobs and hope you all enjoy your day.

Good Afternoon everyone!

We had a thick frost again this morning but it did eventually clear and we've had lovely sunshine for most of the day although it's clouded over now.  There's said to be milder arriving next week and I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to that!

David did the essential shopping early this morning and I did the first set of my physio exercises after breakfast.  I've also tackled the cryptic crossword but still have more to do on that.  I shall do those and also the second set of my exercises later today.  I've also done some reading and some computer work on my mobile phone and also my laptop.  David and I have watched some TV.  He's now watching the indoor bowls and he's also spent some time upstairs in our loft playing with his model railway.

I've as yet received no reply from my GP to the email I sent him yesterday.

Jean, You have just heard that your bereavement counsellor from Mind cannot continue something to do with internal things there.  I'm sorry to hear that you are alone once more and are depressed and feel very alone.  I think that with the present economic situation all the public services have sadly been cut back.  All I can suggest is that you continue with your club that you go to and with going to church, both of which are places where you can make friends and socialise.  Also, I'm assuming that the church you go to has different activities, which means that there should be something for everyone.  We clearly can't rely on the public services, although that is no fault of their own.  They're strapped for cash just as a lot of people are now.

Pauline, Yesterday you got everything you needed on the shopping trip, except again for the coffee whitener, which seems to be short everywhere.  Think you have got nearly all you needed for a buffet meal in your freezer, when you have the next family get-together.  Got the other pack of 2 cushion pads and can say that all cushions have now been dealt with and last evening also caught up with more running repairs - bits and pieces of sewing that weren't actually urgent, but had been put aside for attention - well that lot is going down quckly.  Washing done early again this morning and you really need to get on with the ironing soon.  Today will carry on with the sort out and it is lovely and sunny outside, which makes us all feel better and the frost wasn't so thick this morning.

The Christmas fairy/angel is looking good!

You are planning to go into your surgery early on Monday and discuss the situation with them about the tablets that need a review and see if you can get the doctor to phone you, before you go and collect the prescription for what you could order and then off to the club.  I hope you have more luck getting your GP to phone you than I'm having!

It is indeed a nasty situation in Addiscombe regarding street harassment for money and it's getting worse.  Apparently the beggars have been banned by PSPOs (Public Space Protection Orders) from Central Croydon.  I've just Googled them and they are defined as "PSPOs are intended to deal with a particular nuisance in a defined public space, where the nuisance behaviour is having a negative impact on the quality of life for those in that public space."  Well, all that means is those who are banned from entering a public space have to move on to another public space, which doesn't solve the problem at all!  I've heard nothing back from our MP/Shadow Policing Minister, Sarah Jones, but she does usually reply to emails, although not always immediately.

I expect that Dian is busy and hope that she's all right.

I also hope that Rita is all right.

Stay safe and well, everyone!

Lots of love from me to all!

Hello Everyone - Page 39 Xfdp8b10    Another very cold and frosty start to the day, but sun is out again.  Yesterday I got on wth the fiddly jobs again and thought it was about time I wrote out a new list of what was in the freezers, so got that done and did a bit more of filling in this year's diary, bit more sewing and working on car boot items, so one of those days where it didn't show that I had done much, but getting there slowly.

Barbara, well I do hope we get the milder weather arriving next week and possibly be able to lower the heating again, because mine is up the highest it has been so far this Winter.  Usual things for you and David yesterday, but still no reply from your G P.  Thank you for your remarks about the Christmas fairy/angel, yes she is looking better once again.  I do hope you get a reply from your M P and some action can be taken about the problem in Addiscombe.   I did get a quick reply from Rita to my email and she said she would write more fully later, so waiting to get some news from her.

Dian, I see you got in the hair appointment yesterday and got a cut and blow dry (think I need to be cutting a bit off of mine soon).  You went with your daughter and friend for the usual shopping trip in the morning and all enjoyed a snack while you were out and then your daughter took your friend home and  waited for you at the hairdresers and then got you home.  Same here, the sun was quite hot and did shift some of the frost, but the bird bath needed some help from me with some warm water. Liked the Scottish health advice email.

Jean, I expect it is chicken and chips day for you and Peanut and hope you are feeling a bit more cheerful than you did yesterday.

Looking forward to a hot cup of coffee and before I start any jobs, I am going to sit down with the massage pad for a while, as shoulder is aching this morning, a bit more than usual - probably slept an awkward way.  Enjoy your Saturday Ladies.

Good Afternoon everyone!

The frost wasn't quite so heavy this morning and it did clear with the help of the lovely sunshine, although it's still very cold. I think it was a case of "It's lovely when you're indoors!"

David did the essential shopping early this morning.  I did the first set of my physio exercises after breakfast and will do the second set later on today.  I've tackled the cryptic crossword but have still more to do on it, which I shall also do later on today.  I've also done some computer work on my mobile phone and on my laptop, and have done some reading.  We watched some TV this morning and David played for a while with his model railway.  This afternoon, he's watching indoor bowls on the TV.

I shall have to wait until Monday now to see if my GP is going to reply to my email.

Sadly, I've read on Facebook that our branch of NatWest closed down on Thursday last.  I thought there was to be a public consultation on it but it seems that that didn't happen.  We're not happy about the situation but there's nothing we can do about it.  We don't understand why it's closed down as the branch was always busy with customers, both inside the bank and at the ATM outside.  We used to have 3 banks in our little town; now we have none.

Dian, You posted yesterday when you were not long in from hairdresser as had a cut and blow dry.  It was very frosty in the morning.  You went to your usual shopping centre then you all enjoyed a nice snack.  After that daughter dropped friend home then took you to hairdresser and waited on you and took you home so did have a nice day out.  Sun was surprisingly warm which defrosted a lot but where the sun did not get to shine nothing melted......grrrrr

Still very cold there today but dry so far.

Dry but very cold there at the moment. Hope there is warmer weather on the way Do hope so.

Pauline, Another very cold and frosty start to the day, but sun is out again.  Yesterday you got on with the fiddly jobs again and thought it was about time you wrote out a new list of what was in the freezers, so got that done and did a bit more of filling in this year's diary, bit more sewing and working on car boot items, so one of those days where it didn't show that you had done much, but getting there slowly.

I haven't heard back from our MP yet but I hope she's looking into the matter first.

I'm glad that you've heard back from Rita, who has said that she would reply more fully later.

After posting, you had a hot cup of coffee and before you started any jobs, you sat down with the massage pad for a while, as shoulder was aching this morning, a bit more than usual - probably slept an awkward way.

Jean, Hopefully chicken and chips last one for 2 weeks.  They are going to home for Chinese New year.

Very frosty there today.  Hhope the car will not need lots of time spent on it.

Yesterday the bowls club had their AGM and you want a new treasurer, the sticking point it taking the cash to the bank as it is a bit dangerous now.  Not many banks.  The same as us, unfortunately!

Stay safe and well, everyone!

Lots of love from me to all!

Hello Everyone - Page 39 Jctyqc10    Hello Ladies.  At last having got rid of a lot of the car boot items that were hidden behind the bar (having sorted some of those items for raffle prizes and charity shops) and  also sorted out and got rid of a lot of DVDs, I have actually created more space i.e the shelving the DVDs are on (now there are less of them) I was able to shift to a different place and a piece of furniture, unused, is now supporting the t v and been able to put that further into the corner and it is slightly up higher for viewing, having been able to move a corner display cabinet to behind the bar, I can say the lounge is finished and I am pleased with the layout.  Got to do a little bit more tidying up in the kitchen end, because I got out some items I needed from the large cupboard, but other than that the entire ground floor is finished - thank goodness for that.  Next week hopefully I can get upstairs tidy once more and might be able to get back to the crafting and repairing.

Jean, hope you managed to get your chicken and chips yesterday and the car didn't need too much time spent on it because of the frosty weather.  That is such a problem with a new tresasurer needed for the bowls club, having to get the money to a bank, seeing as so many of them are closing.

Dian it was still very cold your way, but at least dry.  The massage pad did help quite a bit and I was able to get on with the work, having used it.  Hope your weekend is going well and here we have sunshine again, but the frost is taking quite a time to clear and have had to see to the birdbath once again.  We are all hoping for the temperatures to go up a bit - roll on Spring.  Thank you for the two emails.

Barbara, agree with you, seeing the sunshine is good, but okay when you are indoors.  Usual things for you and David yesterday.  No banks for you now in Addiscombe, as the NatWest branch has now closed.  That is such a nuisance and means that you have to go into Croydon if you need anything from your Bank.  We are lucky here that NatWest is still open in our centre and also the Lloyds branch, but Barclays has closed and has a small hub now outside their closed branch.  Hopefully NatWest and Lloyds will stay open in the centre, because that is one very busy shopping place.  I do hope you hear from your G P tomorrow and also your MP just might reply this week.

Must away now Ladies and get the items back in that kitchen cupboard and tidy that end.  Hope you all enjoy the rest of Sunday.

Good Afternoon everyone!

We awoke this morning to the forecast frost and fog!  Oh what joys!  They both took a long time to clear but that has been accomplished, thank goodness, although it's still very cold, but at least it's stayed sunny and dry.

David went out to buy a newspaper and some odd bits early this morning.  He was glad to get back home!  I did the first set of my physio exercises after breakfast and will do the second set later today.  I've also tackled the general knowledge crossword and have finished most of it.  I shall have another go at it later today too.  David and I watched the Laura Kuenessberg programme this morning.  As usual, it was full of interesting interviews.  I've also done some reading and have done some computer work on my mobile phone and on my laptop.  I've also submitted online the answers to some of the puzzles in Take A Break magazine.  David is now watching snooker on the TV.

Pauline, At last having got rid of a lot of the car boot items that were hidden behind the bar (having sorted some of those items for raffle prizes and charity shops) and  also sorted out and got rid of a lot of DVDs, you have actually created more space i.e the shelving the DVDs are on (now there are less of them) you were able to shift to a different place and a piece of furniture, unused, is now supporting the t v and been able to put that further into the corner and it is slightly up higher for viewing, having been able to move a corner display cabinet to behind the bar, you can say the lounge is finished and you are pleased with the layout.  Got to do a little bit more tidying up in the kitchen end, because you got out some items you needed from the large cupboard, but other than that the entire ground floor is finished - thank goodness for that.  Next week hopefully you can get upstairs tidy once more and might be able to get back to the crafting and repairing.

Dian, Very cold but dry there so far.  You changed your bed and think weather better tomorrow so will do the washing tomorrow.  Also 2 bins go out for tomorrow.

I expect that Jean is busy.  I hope she's all right, anyway.  I also hope that Rita is having a good day.

Hello Everyone - Page 39 4xzbgp10    Hi Ladies.  Quick post this morning as I want to fit in quite a lot before I go to the club.

Dian, bins out for you today for collection and see you stripped your bed yesterday and want to get the washing done today - hope the weather is dry and sunny, so you can get the items dry outside (or at least out there for a while).

Jean hope you enjoyed your weekend and pehaps went to the church yesterday.

Barbara, still so frosty each day and although we have had the sun it isn't clearing it all.  Hope the week starts off well for you with a reply from your G P and your M P.

Must scoot now Ladies - quite a few phone calls to make first before I can get out.  Have a good day all of you.

Good Afternoon everyone!

We had frost again early this morning and it's gradually cleared during the day.  There was also lovely sunshine but it's still terribly cold.

David did the essential shopping early this morning.  I did the first set of my physio exercises after breakfast and will do the second set later today.  I've also tackled the cryptic crossword but still have more to do later today.  I've done some reading and also some computer work on my mobile phone and on my laptop.

I haven't heard back from my MP yet but am still hoping she's investigating the situation re the aggressive beggars in Addiscombe and elsewhere around the borough.  It seems that they've been banned from going into Central Croydon and so are now "visiting" areas outside the centre.

I still haven't heard back from my GP but am going to the surgery tomorrow to see the physiotherapist.  If I see my GP, I'll have a word with him.

Pauline, You did a quick post this morning as you want to fit in quite a lot before going to the club, including a few phone calls.  I hope you have a win in the quiz and/or the raffle!

Dian, Well it is dry where you are but certainly no drying in the air.  So what is left  will go over radiators.  Quite a lot on pulley so they will be nearly dry.  It is very damp looking and overcast so certainly no drying outside as not even a breeze.  Well you had a dull cold miserable morning and no sign of it improving.

I hope that Rita is having a good day.

Good Afternoon everyone!

Our weather has been cloudy all day with no sunshine at all but it does seem a bit milder, thank goodness!  It's also stayed dry.

David did the essential shopping early this morning and I did the first set of my physio exercises after breakfast.  I'll do the second set later on today.  I've also tackled the cryptic crossword and will try to complete that too later on today.  Unfortunately, I had that terrible pain in my thigh during the morning, having felt all right up until then.  Consequently, I felt it better to cancel my physio appointment, as it would have been an awful ordeal walking to the surgery.  I'm so disappointed, not least because I'd intended trying to speak to my GP while at the surgery.  I spent the rest of the morning and some of this afternoon resting my leg and the pain is gradually wearing off.  I've also done some computer work on my mobile phone and on my laptop, have done some reading and watched some TV.  David went out for a walk after lunch and is now watching a Western on the TV.

I've still heard nothing from my MP but will leave it a bit longer before contacting her again as she may be looking into what can be done about the problem with the aggressive beggars in Addiscombe.

Jean, It seems very cold where you are and so far have not been out.

You had a reminder from the docs about that diabetic foot check you cancelled. You will ring theme later!! And then they sent a link saying to make another appointment!!

Dian, Well it is dry where you are but cold.  Daughter picking you up after she finishes her work to take you to have your eyes tested.  After posting, you went off for a nice cuppa.

I hope that Pauline is having a good day and that Rita is all right.

Stay safe and well, everyone!

Hello Everyone - Page 39 Oie_gl85    Hello Ladies.  Yesterday I didn't get things done that I wanted to do, because after a few phone calls in the morning I am still waiting to sort out a get-together to celebrate Stephen's birthday and as it was getting late, I just went to the club straight away and coming home from there I couldn't face going to the centre because it was so cold and came straight back home.  No prescripton collected or calling into the surgery and had a lot on today, so will leave that until tomorrow.

I did enjoy the club and won 3 small tins of tuna and a bar of chocolate in the raffle, but our team didn't do that well in the quiz.  What I actually did achieve was going through so much more paperwork and shredding heaps.  I had a filing box full of things to do with finishing up all of the accounts, etc., after my Mum died and of course, it was sensible at the time to keep all of that for a few years. Well it has been almost 14 years since I lost her, so went through everything thoroughly and just kept the last letters confirming settlement with regard to all of the accounts and shredded the remainder, so that has emptied a filing box that can now be used for other things.  Also been through my own paperwork amd now going through the bank statements and getting that lot in order.  I can say that the recycling bin, that isn't collected until next week, is now almost full and the normal household bin got collected today, so got that back in and saw to the birdfood and defrosted the birdbath, etc., so feeling quite happy with the updating and clear out, but still more to do, because I am determined to make more room in my cupboards.

Jean, Hope you enjoyed the club today, where you were taking Barry and see that you had a reminder for the foot appointment, which you originally cancelled and they sent you the link to make another one - hope that is sorted now.  With regard to Rita's daughter, yes she is here and they are now looking around for houses and Rita had a day out with them in Norfolk.  I did write about that on 5th January, but it was at the bottom of a page and on the next page you didn't post until 9th, so you would have missed that.

Dian, you too would have missed that info about Rita's daughter, because that was during the time you had computer trouble, but yes thankfully, she got here with the dog.  No drying weather for you yesterday, so all of your washing was drying indoors on the rads and the pulley (same as me today, did some washing when I got up just before 7, but that is drying indoors).  I did enjoy the club and you can see above that I had a couple of wins on the raffle.  Today dry and cold for you and daughter is picking you up after her work and taking you for the eye test.  Hope all went well with that and no new glasses needed. You can see what I said to Jean about posting with regard to Rita's daughter now being here and at the moment Rita just quickly replied to my recent email and said she would write fully soon.

Barbara, usual things for you and David yesterday and today and you still haven't heard anything back from your M P, but as you have said, you will give her time because she might just be investigating this matter.  Again nothing from your G P, but as tomorrow you have the appointment at the surgery with the physiotherapist hopefully you might see your GP, but while you are there, why not mention it to the physiotherapist and see if he can get through to him - you never know.

Have a good evening Ladies and I am going to pop a ready meal in next, as cannot be bothered to do too much cooking this evening and will try and get on with sorting the bank paperwork out while the meal is cooking.

Hello Everyone - Page 39 Purple10 Good Morning All.

From cold temperatures and frost we are now back to rain here this morning, but temperatures up that much, but it isn't very inviting out there and not looking forward to going out, but got to be done.

Jean good that you and Barry both enjoyed the club, but you had to explain to him that an earlier sesson wouldn't be suitable for him as it was for crafting. I wish I had a local group near me that did craft work.  See you won't be going out today in this weather and glad you caught up with the news about Rita's daughter.   As soon as she emails me again, I will bring you all up-to-date with her news.

Looking forward to reading the news from you today Dian and Barbara and now I must off to the centre to collect that prescription - can't go to the surgery today, because this is the day they close for training in about half an hour and won't make it in time, so that will have to wait for another day.  Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Afternoon everyone!

We've had cloud here all day today and it does seem a bit milder, though I'd love it to be even milder!  We did have some rain later on this morning but it didn't amount to much.

David did the essential shopping early this morning and I did the first set of my physio exercises after breakfast.  I shall do the second set later on today.  David and I went out for a short walk this morning and all was well until the rain started.  At first we thought it was mist as it was so light.  Anyway, we were able to get back home before the rain really got under way.  I've done some reading and have done some computer work on my mobile phone and on my laptop.  I've yet to tackle the cryptic crossword but shall do so later this afternoon.  David and I have also watched some TV and he's now watching a Western on there.

Pauline, On Monday you didn't get things done that you wanted to do, because after a few phone calls that morning you are still waiting to sort out a get-together to celebrate Stephen's birthday and as it was getting late, you just went to the club straight away and coming home from there you couldn't face going to the centre because it was so cold and came straight back home.  No prescription collected or calling into the surgery and had a lot on yesterday, so have left that until today.

You did enjoy the club and won 3 small tins of tuna and a bar of chocolate in the raffle, but your team didn't do that well in the quiz.  What you actually did achieve was going through so much more paperwork and shredding heaps.  You had a filing box full of things to do with finishing up all of the accounts, etc., after your Mum died and of course, it was sensible at the time to keep all of that for a few years. Well it has been almost 14 years since you lost her, so went through everything thoroughly and just kept the last letters confirming settlement with regard to all of the accounts and shredded the remainder, so that has emptied a filing box that can now be used for other things.  Also been through your own paperwork amd now going through the bank statements and getting that lot in order.  The recycling bin, that isn't collected until next week, is now almost full and the normal household bin got collected yesterday, so got that back in and saw to the birdfood and defrosted the birdbath, etc., so feeling quite happy with the updating and clear out, but still more to do, because you are determined to make more room in your cupboards.

It was yesterday that I should have had my physio appointment but I had that awful pain again in my thigh and so cancelled it once again.  It was doubly disappointing as I'd intended to speak to my GP but will have to try again another time.

From cold temperatures and frost you are now back to rain there this morning, but temperatures up that much, but it wasn't very inviting out there and you weren't looking forward to going out, but got to be done.

After posting, you went off to the centre to collect that prescription - couldn't go to the surgery today, because this is the day they close for training and you wouldn't make it in time, so that would have to wait for another day.

The club went well and Barry said he would come to the earlier group but that was a new craft class.!!!  He is so deaf so you had to tell him that he could not do that one.  He had to smile!

Dian, It was the afternoon when you posted and you were just in from the Wed club and enjoyed it but no win at Bingo.  Miserable morning but has brightened up and sun is shining.

I hope that Rita is OK.

Stay safe and well, everyone!

Lots of love from me to all!

Hello Everyone - Page 39 Ojbir410    Eventually have nearly caught up with what I needed to do with getting shopping, prescription, etc., and had to leave that all for today and you will never believe that the prescription that should have been ready for Monday, when I called into Boots today, four days on from collecton - it still wasn't made up, so had to go off and continue shopping and then stupidly, because the trolley was so full up I went straight home to get the shopping away, forgetting that I had to get the prescription, so up to the centre again and got it.  Tomorrow I still have to sort out the review of those other two tablets and will do that with a phone call, as my days have been so busy, that I couldn't face calling into the surgery today, so hopefully sort that out tomorrow.

Just spoken to Stephen and Rachel and eventually we have got the late birthday celebration arranged for Sunday 5th February and that is okay with Aimie, Sean and the boys.

Dian thank you for the new emails and what a lovely story about that greyhound and loved the advice on the others - I needed a laugh that I got from them. Miserable morning for you yesterday and although you enjoyed the club, no win for you on the bingo this week.  Good to read you didn't need a change of glasses - that is like me, last time I didn't need a change, but think I might be due one when I have the next test soon.  Dull drab morning for you today (same here with some more light rain) and see you washed and set your hair and was off to do some housework.

Hope things are going well for you Jean.

Barbara, it is milder here too, which is good, but back to the gloomy damp weather with some rain here and there.  Despite the weather I see that you and David managed to get a walk in yesterday.  What a shame that you had again to cancel the physio appointment because of the pain you were in and hope you can manage to book another one that isn't too long to wait for.

Enjoy your evening Ladies.
